I had no idea what it was at all. That title only, which tells little, was what I knew. I just knew I wasn't going to watch the historical failure of the pro muslim anti european "Kingdom of Heaven" or the last movie in the Star Wars series, of which I've never taken the time to watch a single one.
Turns out it's some kind of philosophical documentary on the role of the observer in metaphysics and personal empowerment and the meaning of thoughts and feelings.
They interview all these nutty people, who are however articulate and intelligent, on these issues and it gets a little bizarre and in the end they all turn out to be Phd's from reputable Universities that are interested in this stuff.
They also interview this odd warm fat woman who looks like a middle aged well fed Brigitte Bardot and she turns out to be the leader of the bunch, "Mantha, leader of the Mantha Church of Enlightenment"
Great. I've been duped into a full screen pro made cult religion propaganda movie. The woman has something warm fuzzy and confident about her that fat women usually only have when they're sex therapists or professors of sexuology.
Their message is nice though. They go into how little anyone really knows about existance, then from this free point of view plug a complete belief in self empowerment and the power of the mind over your life. They use some pseudo science in it though, which I'd preferred they'd just left out of it and told their story without it. They built it around images in the daily life of this deaf woman photographer. The actrice is actually deaf which is why she talks weird. I've seen her before. She's probably the only deaf woman pro actrice in Hollywood. There is absolutely no relevance to the story in her being deaf from what I can tell. Neither is there a reason why she has a hot 20ish yr old roommate who acts like a 9 yr old girl.
Altogether it was interesting and thought provoking but somehow I feel screwed that I wasn't informed somebody was trying to recruit me.
