I saw it at the theatre today, good movie and at the top of my "comic movies" but I'm biased because Ironman was one of my favorite comic books as a young lad.

Actually, I'm prolly gonna shell out the $$ to see it in the theater too. Lots of people are talking good about it.

I'm seeing it saturday at the Arclight cinema in Hollywood.

It's like an all-digital cinema, you can buy alcohol, starbucks, chicken wings, you get a seat number assignment, valet parking. It's where they have lotsa "not so big" movie premieres. Real cool venue. And the chicks there are hot, as i'm sure my hot wings falling down my shirt must turn them on.

The Amoeba indie/alternative (read: no janet jackson crap) music store is right next door. That's kinda cool.

That must be pretty expensive!!!

I normally don't go to theatres but I did like the comic book and......A female friend of mine sent me an e-mail claiming that I was Tony Stark, the womanizing smartass version.
:)

Here we have free valet parking - if you do not run quickly enough to make it inside the theater you get a gun pointed to your head, they take your car, and part it where they want to.

The girls are not that hot and many of them are missing teeth.

Is it still good to someone that never read the comic?
I was deep into Marvel once upon a time, and that gave me some extra "payoff" moments, but it's still a pretty good movie even if you come into it cold.

It's not the original Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it never dragged. I wasn't disappointed, and the way I was psyched up it would have been easy for them to ruin it.

If you don't know what S.H.I.E.L.D. is there's a running joke that may not make a lot of sense to you, but it's a very minor subplot.

iron man was a sick movie .. i was shocked it was so good

ive been to the cinema 2 times in 12 months, ironman was one of those, and it was totally worth it
Definitely worth it.Even though the matinee is $7.50...wtf???

Ironman is my favorite comic book movie to date.
I loved it.

Did anyone wait to see what happens after the credits?

lol..I didn't figure out the S.H.I.E.L.D reference, then they clubbed me with it at the end.

Downey is awesome. I haven't seen it, but I'm sure he made the difference between just a stand-in for the comic book character and creating a real on-screen character.

uh...and how does someone with an IQ above 85 not be able to tell the difference between a fucking missile and a suit of armor?

It would have been easier/smarter to build a transmitter/beacon type device for a rescue but it doesn't advance the storyline. :)

Still chokingly lame though. Mmmmm....a missile with arms and legs...very interesting Mr. Stark, please do continue.

My brother has I believe the first Iron Man issue, or at least a really old one, and I recall him saying something about the character wearing the suit for the first time in Vietnam and the Cong shooting up his iron ass. I guess they struggled to parallel the origin in the film.

They did figure it out, he was fucking around and not making the missile but it was a stretch.

Also, Stan Lee made his obligatory cameo.

Is the Sabbath song played?
Closing credits. Not the original, just a cover.

I missed hearing the 1964 cartoon show theme* -- found out afterward it was Rhodey's ringtone, and I guess I was laughing too hard at the visual... he has Tony down as "The Starkster." :D

*Tony Stark makes you feel
He's the cool exec
With a heart of steel
An Iron Man all jets a-blaze
He's fighting and smiting with repulsor rays
Amazing armor, it's Iron Man
A blaze of power, it's Iron Man!

Interesting, thanks. I was listening to the song today and it sounded like it was a story about a super-hero type.

They tried to be relatively faithful to the basic origin.

I've never read the comics and say it last weekend. The movie was very good. They do a nice job setting up the beginning to. Stay after the credits though cuz there is another scene at the end.

It's very easy to watch if you know nothing about the comics. They do an introduction of teh character and then get it "the beginning." Pretty straightforward stuff.
