We just moved into new office space. The building mgmt keeps the AC on high all day. I don't mean cold, we control that. I just mean full blast, like I'm sitting in an airplane on the runway ready for takeoff. Add to that the servers are in my office so I can't hear myself think.

Because they built out the space for us the office next to me controls my temp. Anyway, the temp is probably about 72 but because they've got it on ultra high it feels like 65 up in here. My fingers are so cold it's hard to type. If I tell him to turn it down even a tiny bit nosey boss will have it 80 degrees in here within ten minutes. Did I mention I am directly under the vent? FUCK I'M COLD!

And another thing. Yet again IT Guy (that's me) gets the shaft and I get the ONE office without a window. Nevermind the fact that dude in the office next to me who controls my temperature closes the blinds, turns off the lights and works in the dark ALL DAY EVERY DAY! Maybe they don't want people to look in the window and see there's black people working here but dang, we're 8 floors up though. (sorry but 3 paragraphs without playing a race card and I start twitching and mumbling about Nelson Mandela).

I HATED working in an office without a window, made me want to cry, I felt like I was in prison every day. All I can say is bring in some pictures of the outdoors or something, it does help a little.

As for the temp, bring in a small ceramic heater, fits right under your desk. One more thing to make noise, but at least your hands will defrost (my house sits at 55 for the winter, pretty much, so I relate to the typing/cold problem).

Any chance you can switch offices with the vampire guy who hates the daylight?

I just walked down the hall and it's at least 5 degrees warmer outside my office. Not having a window means there's no sunlight coming in to warm it up. Our windows are all facing east so everybody else is nice and toasty............racists.
