If you are a cheap fucker and don't care about the environment then go pour gas all over it/ or used motor oil if you are really cheap.
If you just want to slow the growth down you can spray it with a retardant that will allow it to stay green but won't let it grow as fast. Basically like putting it on a diet.
If you want to get rid of it forever and want nothing else to grow there then you can put a sterilizer on it, then nothing will grow there later.
If you want to kill it but have something else grow there then you can put a herbicide on it(something like roundup). This will kill it but will allow something else to grow(like weeds)
If you want to change the type of turf to something that might not grow as much you could do that several ways also.
If you want to leave it and pay some cheap fucker to cut it you could do that to keep it simple.
Let me know your intentions and I'll set you up with good advice.

biteme said:The only thing that concerns me is that I read that grass prevents soil erosion and can soil erosion potentially cause foundation problems? I haven't found the answer to this on the net yet. They don't go into details on anything.
Megalomaniac said:do you live on a hill? If not then don't worry about it. The soil erosion they are talking about means that if it rains the soil will wash away where if there was grass it wouldn't. That is the only way it will affect your home foundation, if you live in a place where the soil can wash away from the foundation.
biteme said:Don't have to worry about that... I put a large tarp over a portion of the yard and it killed that area. So I'm just gonna keep moving it around.... Thanks man for the advice!
Megalomaniac said:Won't kill the grass unless you leave it there for a hell of a long time, it will ding it and make it all yellow but the root systems will probably still be alive and it will come back.
I was told once that grass grows by the inch and dies by the foot, maybe just run laps around it until it is all dead.
