I need HELP from MBA's

I'm applying to go back for an MBA and I have 2 questions for those of you who have successfully been accepted.

One is about essays. There is an essay question (which I have to answer), it says:

Make up a topic or question of your choice and answer it (1-2 pages).

Did anyone else get this as a question? Any ideas on what to do there?

--------------------------------

Secondly, the only thing I'm not sure how to deal with is that I've only been out in the workforce for 2.5 years. Although I've gotten a ton of experience, the average time out of school for the schools I'm applying to is about 5 years.

There is an "optional essay" that you can write to explain anything else you'd like to explain to the admission committee. Do you think I should address the work experience issue in an optional essay or just ignore it completely? (it's a separate essay from the one I described above).

Thanks so much,
Brandon

MTS should be able to help you out with this one.

Hey!

I haven't forgotten you on the other issues...been so busy this week. Will get to them before the week ends. Long Beach - impressive.

These questions are common on law school apps as well. I wrote a lot of them for my friends getting out of the army and applying to grad school; too much time in the desert made them intellectually unresponsive. :)

Topic of your choice? People often make up "what was your greatest challenge etc?" Lame. Might already be on there. Likeiwse any leadership questions.

One I like is 'what would you do if you had a year/month/week/day/hour to live? Allows you to really talk about the past and the future effectively against a terse backdrop of a concrete reality.

Experience issue: you just deal with it, it is what it is. Duration if experience does not mean value of experience. IF I put a moron in a round room and tell him there is pizza in the corner, does 50 years of searching make him a 'pizza location expert'? 'Nuff said.

If there is no other means to address the experience issue, consider it for the optional. Do they offer any guidelines for the optional (some schools do?)

I was out for 17 months when I made the decision to go back......I went to Washington University or Wash. U (St. Louis).

The lack of experience was never an issue.
