i am having problems making a resume due to my experience. i am looking for a clerical position. i really have only had one job where i had any clerical experience. i did data entry and ad layout. i am also going to list that i worked at home depot and comp usa.

what can i put down for my accomplishments at each job? that is what i am having a problem with. at compusa i was a customer relations specialist and at home depot a sales rep.

thanks

Just put your a Black Belt in Six Sigma,
I would taylor it to the position you are appling for. If it involves computers I'd tell how you used computers at both jubs. It's always good to put that you were directly involved in helping customers. I'll see if I can get mine from monster and post it.

Monster is a good place to design your resume. then cut and paste it to word.

i really wouldn't even know what to put down. how would i put down my work with computers? computers is always good =)

well, if you know certain programs (aka excel and word etc) you can say that you are profficient in them. You can do a search on line and find other peoples resumes and then just use their format and descriptions and apply them to what you have accomplished.

Whatever you put down, just make sure your old boss would vouch for them.

Bullshitting a resume = you don't get hired.

If you lack the experience, put past accomplishments that accentuate your character, etc. Put any and all computer skills you have. There are ways.

That's fucking bullshit. A buddy of mine is the biggest bullshitter and he landed 70k jobs just by bullshitting his resume and bullshitting the interviewer. If your a good bullshitter you can get any job you want. You just have to know what the hell your talking about. Most employers now a days are looking for the guy with the most experience because in this bad economy the employer has the choice of who they want. So they are going after the most experienced guys who can do the job. So if your wanting to get a clerical job, and you only have a few months experience put on your resume you have 3 years experience instead. Find out what they are looking for before you go in to the interview and make sure you tell them about this experience. But all this bullshittin won't work unless you have someone to back you up with what you say because most employers check references these days.

I don’t know about that man I have seen some slick people land some great jobs by just bullshiting. Do whatever it takes. A buddy of mine put down he was certified in just about everything computer related. CCNA, A+ etc. And got a job as a network specialist making some good change. Funny thing is he did not even know how to network basic home computers. lol. He told me he had to go home and look up how to network on the internet because that’s what his new job was. lol

Heya here are a few sites I look to for help when I want to update my resume or apply for a job. I hope they can help you out too. I do agree with what some people are saying as well by the way. I think it's okay to fudge a little bit when you wanna get your foot in the door. Just don't go writing down a bunch of stuff that you can't back up :) You gotta be able to at least BS anything that wasn't entirely true on your resume.
