I Need Help (acne) Ive Never Had It Before

deca at only 300 a week messed my skin up more so than any androgen ive put in my body. plus it shut me down for months. i got big cystic welts, and with my ethinc background , pac. islands, some turned in to keloid, hypertrophic scars. not pretty at all. that was 2 cycles ago.

i would take care of it now with either, bactrim or antibiotic, some seem to respond well to that....or accutane. i probably have to get spot injections of kenalog into my middle chest and shoulders to reduce the redness and raised scars.

For me it doesn't matter what I take, I seem to break out bad after cycle when my hormone levels are trying to re-adjust themselves. I get just normal acne on my face around my jawbone like you, but my back and chest are a different story. My back turns into a mine field and my chest can get pretty bad. When I had some accutane I would just take it for a few days and it would seem to clear it self up fairly well. Then I would stop taking it and if I had any signs I'd take it for a few days again. I just didn't like taking accutane for two reasons the sides for one with the liver and two was how incredably dry and dehydrated my body would get. Once my lips chapped in the summer time I knew it was time to stop for a while. Unfortunately it would come on pretty fast maybe 5 days into it I'd get that way.

Accutane definitely works, but I would see a dermatologist and shoot for a prescription antioibiotic with less severe side effects initially. Tetracyline and doxycycline can be very effective, especially when coupled with a topical treatment such as Retin-A or the more recently prescribed Differin Gel. Another prescription drug which is not an antibiotic and seems to consistently yield excellent results is Spironolactone. This is also a diuretic, as well as an anti-androgen. As I'm sure you know, Accutane is extremely hard on the liver, so if your dermatologist does recommend it, be prepared to undergo at least monthly blood tests to monitor your enzyme levels. Good luck!

Very good post here. Follow his advice to a tee - don't jump right onto accutane, go see a derm and they will likely give you an antibiotic and a topical. This works well for many people, and if it doesn't you can do accutane.

i've been on minocycline for the past 6 months - works great :)

Thats until one gets bacterial resistance. Happens within a few weeks or a few months for most.

Antibiotics are never a long term solution, which is why derms couple antibiotics with a topical for long term use.
