I need a new hobby...

It isn't hard at all. It does require some patience (which I didn't know I had until I started making this stuff) & creativity (trying to turn a bunch of beads, gems, crystals, etc. into something). I find it to be very therapeutic.

What kind of hobbies are you interested in?

I'm thinking of a hobby that I can do at home, relatively cheap, and can do with the kids around. That way the wife can go to night classes to earm the PMI designation.

I was thinking of pottery, painting, or singing. The first ones are ones that I can do with the kids around and have the kids play too. The last is one that I'd like to each the kids but a 4/2 year old are much singers...although, I could get them to be the next Nsync...

With jewelry, you have to be careful about small pieces, sharp wires, etc. Also, it will require you to have every kind of plier sold (I never knew pliers had so many different head shapes). If you want to involve your kids, I wouldn't do that.

Pottery or painting sounds like fun. Painting is definitely cheap and is something you can do with the kids.

I haven't painted in awhile. Another hobby I have is embroidery.

Thanks for the tip. There were other hobbies that I was considering for this year, but none are "kid-proof". Although to see a 2 year old swinging a hand crafted sword would be precious...

I have seen her jewelry and i can say its not what i expected,,,,it was extremely nice!

Don't laugh, or be insulted, but coloring -- yeah, with crayons (but they have to be Crayola, the only ones that work well and smell like childhood). They make very detailed coloring books that you can only get in crafts/hobby stores ...

It's just a start ... with a 4 and a 2 year old you don't want something that a) you can't walk away from or b) you get too immersed/involved in.

I was also thinking of suggesting something like needlework too, knitting, crochet, embroidery or cross-stitch ... I just consider coloring with crayons an easy, stress free way to get back in touch with basic creativity, a starting point ...

Earlier today, I was thinking pottery, but NYC how do you make jewelery?

Screw all these TTT opinions. Physics is a most prestigious hobby. Or you could learn Greek, Latin, or Old English if you're too scared of a little math.
