Many of you have followed my and others posts about carao. In the process of learning more and more about carao, I've come to know the creator of the cold process for making carao extract very well. His name is Lloyd Standish. He is the 17th direct descendant from Miles Standish who came over on the Mayflower. Every generation the father and son trade back the names Miles and Lloyd. He is an organic farmer living on his little farm in the wilds of Costa Rica. His life is primitive by our standards. He doesn't have a phone and has to hike to a pay phone just to hook up to the internet to read our letters. I've been getting many emails from him in the last many months... learning more about carao... how he makes his extract... and also learning more about his life and family in the process, and the people here on this site have also contributed greatly in helping him get his internet business up to speed, making recommendations on how to improve security, etc...
He had originally created the carao formula as a treatment for anemia after reading the medical research on carao studies. If you read his mission statement on his site about the development of carao extract to treat anemia, he considers it his foremost contribution to the world. In many parts of the world anemia continues to be a killer. This whole bodybuilder/power-lifter element that we've thrown in has been a very unexpected part of his life. Tonight I got another one of his wildly enthusiastic emails. Here is a section from it:
"Do you know what it feels like to donate a bottle of carao to a poor family whose little girl is in profound anemia, with doctors saying it is going into leucemia... then 3 weeks later you are told that she is better thanks to carao?
I will be making a lot of donations of carao."
By our standards the carao guy is anything but wealthy. He lives a humble life and a humble existence. He works often 16 hour days harvesting fruit, making his cane syrup candy, and tending his fruit fields.. and yet he still is able to take great pride in helping others in what abundance he has.
The LLoyd Standish, the carao guy, is unique to me. I am starting to see him as the most decent human being I have ever encountered.
