i just joined the ACLU

I have always wanted to ask a member of the ACLU a question. How come they only support CERTAIN civil liberties? I like the concept of what they do and I respect their willingness to go against public opinion in order to protect peoples civil rights but I could never understand how a group could consider themselves ethical when they pick and choose the civil rights they are willing to defend and ignore violations and attacks on others.

Legal resources are limited for the ACLU so of course they can't fight for every cause.

The aclu NEVER fights for either the 2nd amendment or CHRISTIAN religion. They will fight to protect schools rights to teach the koran but raise hell if a school wants to teach the bible.
To say they don't support the second amendment because we have the nra means that they should not support the rights of black americans because they have the naacp. The aclu has come out and said they don't like guns and don't agree with the second amendment. "Gee lets only support the rights WE think people should have. The hell with the bill of rights." As for having limited money. Fair enough, but how about spending what you have on ALL our civil rights? The leaders of the aclu have taken a noble idea and corrupted it into a tool of the far left.

The ACLU is inherently a good idea. But it has been hijacked by people with an agenda.....
