no extra money yet, but I'm charge of people now.

that's a scary thought.

should be good for my salary review in July.

so I got that going for me, which is nice.

hard to say. I think I will likely have more work in terms of managing what other people are doing. as for actual coding, they are leaving the hardest stuff for me and then the rest goes out to the people under me, and then I manage the whole project.

a scary thought - before I could be the fuck up and I knew that someone else would deal with it. now I'm that "someone else"

but it means at least an $8K increase in salary come July, and perhaps more.
 
I just had a tour of our new offices too. I don't think it will start this week, but fairly soon I will have multiple desks - so I don't know how much time I will have on here.
I would guess not much.

I've only been here... I think this is my 5th or 6th week - but when I started I felt like they were kind of hinting that this might happen.

I don't know - either way I get to do fun stuff. (I will be learning all about Viagra in a few days... I'll have to act like I didn't know any of that stuff before :))
 
so I see "Citibank" did make the call, unless this was a different kind of "promotion". You did say you are over people :D

LOL - oh holy shit - that shows what a corporate clown I'm truly becoming. I didn't even notice the similarities when they showed me the new space.
I swear that our new office space expands into the basement here and I was just taken down there to see the new space.
Some of my team will be down there and I will have a cube there (but apparently won't be there much for at least a month), and "my team" is up here on the 2nd floor.

hmmm, I really might have to start drinking coffee again.

on the first, no clue - but frankly, who wouldn't be? :)

on the latter - I'm in the process of getting it up and going. the technology is in place, it is a matter of getting the UI on it and then the paperwork and fees on the business side. but that is all self-sufficient for the most part, I will just be checking on it at night to make sure that it is okay.
 
i think you should see if 'the simpsons' are in need of any writers. i think you would do a much better job there.

holy shit, did you see last night's episode with the sopranos knock-off? fucking awesome.

later in the week, and definitely next week I will actually be having to run things.

right now I'm trying to figure out why a 9 table join isn't returning any data to me. no errors, no crashing, no time outs - just is happily saying that there is nothing to return. but there is.
so obivously it is written incorrectly - and I am trying to see how that is so...

See, now you just spend your time trying to get your work done around meetings. After a while, you'll just have meetings all the time, not do any productive work, and even though people will still be interested in what you have to say, you will no longer have anything of substance to contribute.

Yep, it's a fun life.

Being in charge of people can be a lot of fun, except when they ask you questions and you have no clue what they're talking about. But don't worry about that, it'll only happen a dozen times or so every week. :D
