I just got Jury Duty, How do I get out of it?

in my country there are only juries for criminals trials but i would be proud to serve, even if it costs me something.
i would try the other way round, ask the dean of your school to help you get school and jury duty together.

A degree in criminal justice? Hell in my state they are calling up cops for jury duty. Go figure. I guess you could show up in KKK regalia.

First, understand that the trial by jury is a constitutional right to every american citizen. If every intelligent person was to try and get out of it the system would be left with a pool of ignorant people. Ask yourself this question. If you were on trial for something you did not do, the victim of over zealous prosecutors or for a mistake that you made, wouldn't you want the people seated on your jury to be the most intelligent people they could get? I was tried and aquitted on false trumped up charges and was fortunate to have people seated on my jury that were able to see through the bullshit and weigh out the evidence and find me not guilty. They sat through six weeks of arguements and allowed me to keep my freedom. I thanked each and every one of them for their service. Just another way of looking at it.

I think a lot of people are missing just how important a point Big Satan is making here. This is America people! It only stays America if the individual citizens are willing to stand up and take action.

20 years ago I was a councelor in the "joint." I can still remember that pain on one guys face. He was just finishing off a 4 year sentence for a crime he did not commit. I read his case file. It was obvious to any intelligent person that he should not have been convicted. I asked him how he managed to get convicted when the evidence obviously showed that he did not commit the crime. He said, "I got a jury of really stupid people."

And just so that you don't think this can't happen to you... all he "did" to even become involved with his case was walk into a TACO BELL and order a burrito. Inside the TACO BELL was the "witness" to the crime (an armed robbery that happened 6 months earlier) who called the police and said, "That's him."

At the time he was head of the youth outreach fellowship at his church, owned his own business, was clocked in on the job with 8 employees (to establish his whereabouts at the time of the crime), had thousands of dollars in the bank... oh yeah... and he was also a very famous ex pro football player. His name was "Chill" Wills.
