Here's where I used to work and lift:

http://www.xsportfitness.com/

Those pics are of the location I was at. The place is HUGE.

Here's where I just joined:

It is old school to be sure. Here's an interview with the owner, who has had a big part in developing powerlifting equipment like bench shirts, briefs, and such:

http://www.chicagopowerlifting.com/ErnieFrantzInterview.html

The place has 3 (!) monolifts. The rest is low tech. The machines on the second floor are hilarious. It's mostly nautilus equipment from the 70's. It looks like the gym that time forgot.

They have a team that trains saturday mornings and wednesday evenings so I'll have to check that out soon. I'm going to try and find pics of the inside 'cause it's pretty hilarious.

awesome. As long as the they have more than one squat rack your fine. You have to have atleast one rack for the curlers.

Whats the difference in membership prices???

kinda like my current gym, its a small whole in the wall with 3 benches, 2 squat racks, 2 smith racks, 2 incline benches, dbells to 150, and pretty small and old. lotta big ass mofos train here. 25/month 24HOUR slide your card in the door access, cant beat it!

There's always lots of great motivation on switching gyms. My current one is a real spit and sawdust place with no heating and a couple of fans on the floor for AC. It feels much better to get away from the leisure center environment into a barbell club one.

st. charles. I worked there too. Seriously the place is CRAWLING with hotties pretty much all the time. I'm gonna miss that part of it.

The wierd thing about the new place is that there are no power racks. I was actually a liitle let down by that. They have more monolifts than squat racks :lmao:

To join the club I was at was 198 down then 49/mo. I didn't pay a cent b/c I worked there. Where I'm at now is 35/month but there's no contract- you pay again when your month is up if you want to. But, to train with Ernie (the owner) all you gotta do is show up. No fees or anything.

Did you guys skim that interview? The guy squatted 841 pounds at age 64!

I just read the interview and damn that guy was a monster. Your damn lucky to train with a guy like that. All my training partners are unmotivated wimps.

I like how he said he trains abs heavy in the 4-5 rep range. Thats how ive been training them lately.

I wonder what he'd think of BS's 5x5 routine.
