I have not been convinced that this war is just.

No such thing....

No war is just when you think about it....

I often comment that WWII was the last "just war" because of who we fought. However, the facts show that powerful people arranged that war. Otherwise, we would have taken someone like Hitler out before the world was at war.

There are those who set things in motion for this current war. Sadly, they don't do the fighting or dying for it. Because of the events set in motion, if others do nothing, we will pay a higher price for doing nothing.

Perhaps it is a moral war for those who are made to fight it and immoral for those who wanted it in the first place?

I'm not going to say anything humoursly sarcastic because i don't know you and you might take it offensively, but that reminds me of Happy Gilmore when he gave that speech about Puppies and industrialization and the host said

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational though. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."

Sorry. I can't resist being an ass.

LOL

I've been surrounded by brownies and CNN all weekend - so I'm cracked right now. That and too many leaves - did I mention I'm horribly allergic to them? (The brownies and the leaves - CNN is just news in bad taste.)

As for sarcasm - I enjoy a well thought out sarcastic remark and from what I can tell we're two living people that actually sat through the entirety of Happy Gilmore.

So with that...

GODSPEED!

Please explain to me how Iraq is a threat to America when they have inspectors in the country and the UN breathing down their neck?
Besides the fact that Saddam publicly proclaims that he supports terrorist attacks both in principal and financially? Besides the Taliban training camps on his soil which he funds?

2thick,

Who is it then, you feel needs to be dealt with before Saddam and Iraq?

Yes 2Thick, do tell. Let's get you on record. That way you won't be able to bitch WHEN a coalition goes after your 'wish list'.

Well, I'm not 2Thick, but allow me... Personally, I think North Korea was more of a direct threat at this time. That said, I agree that Sadaam should not be in power and should be removed. His support of terror attacks can't go ignored. That's certianly where me and 2Thick disagree vehemently. He seriously believes that Iraq is not a direct threat to the US... That is SOMEWHAT true. They do not have the military capability to be a direct threat to US soil, BUT Sadaam's support of terrorism makes him an indirect threat to us at all times...

That said, now that the war is on, let's get the job done, and move on. Sadaam should not be in power, he will be removed from power, (whether or not the timing is right.)

Well as an anti-war person I'm starting to have a change of heart as to if this war is just or not. Saddam needs to go. Sure there are many other dictators in the world that need to go as well, but as the saying goes, you have to start somewhere.

However, I will only say this is a just war if we make a concerted effort to implement democracy in Iraq. Democratic countries do not sponsor terrorism Democratic countries do not invade other soverign nations (except the US ;) ). Democracy makes the world a much safer place. However if we put in some dictator that happens to be an ally of the united states, it will blow up in our faces BIG TIME.

Agreed. I've been in favor of war against Iraq for sometime (14 years lol), but this has to be the outcome... this time.
