I have lost my best friend

There's something so sweet about a big smiley golden when his muzzle is all white/grey. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can see how Punkin' would be lonely but a 12 year old dog doesn't always do too hot with a pup. Those are 2 very different energy levels. Maybe you can find an adult at a shelter that she gets along with?

How sad. :(

I've already checked out the local animal shelters online to see if there's any dogs she'd be compatible with, both age and personality-wise. There's a few, but I'm still undecided as to what to do.

I guess I'm hoping she'll tell me what she wants me to do.

She's moping around pretty bad still, and still hasn't touched her food (she's a little on the chubby side, so I'm not too concerned at this point about her lack of appetite...she'll eat when she gets hungry), and she finally ventured out to the back yard today, albeit reluctantly. She made potty and b-lined it right back to the door.

I almost had a game going with her last night, but she just didn't have it in her. At least she's trying.

All in all, I'd say she's coping with this better than I am.

There's a moose-shaped hole in my soul right now, and I'm feelin' mighty low :(

All in due time I suppose. Right?

I had a golden retriever. I remember practically balling when burying her. Dogs are the purest companion; their love is always there for you.

OK, this is too sad!!!! :(

Punkin' was sacked out in the living room while I was watching TV...a dog on TV barked, and Punkin' jumped to her feet, began looking around, then bolted to the front door looking outside...I think she thought it was Moose coming back home :( :( :(

She spent the last 5 minutes walking around the house looking around, now she's laying down in Moose's traditional spot in the laundry room.

Welcome to hell. Population: me. :(
