Coming from south Florida I'd venture that its probably more "acceptable" there than it would be, say in my home town in N. Minnesota. If you can find a "fun" strip joint (and not a creepy one) then it is actually fun. The first strip joint I ever went to was sort of as a "dare" thing -- I don't like being "afraid" of things so it was sort of for shock value to the guys in our group. It was interesting that this particular place required that any girls who went in be accompanied by a guy because they were concerned about pissed off wives or g/fs coming in to raise holy hell on a hubby / b/f who wasn't supposed to be there.
Since then I've been to several in the S. FL area. I know a few strippers - some girls who were just workign their way thru college (and very nicely I might add, certainly more than I made on my co-op jobs) and others who were sort of trailer-trashy or just exhibitionists w/ a drug problem. Those girls depressed me a lot. I took care of a few of them while they got thru various situations but that whole side of people who can't' be responsiblel for themselves just depresses teh shit out of me. I didn't want any part of the seedy side of strip joints so they lost their luster as you got to know them & the girls better.
Otherwise, as far as girls goign, I think that all women to a degree are bi-curious and maybe getting that lap dance or whatever is just a safe way to explore that for a sec, go w/ the shock value it may have for the guy or just to experience it, as those things you see more often on tv, in society, they are more "acceptable". But again, once you start to see the lifestyle and what goes on behind it , it is very depressing. There's a huge amount of "power" the strippers have over guys, but at teh same time, the whole lifestyle is sort of sad.
