I hate taking time off

I'm on a necessary layoff from the weights, and I hate it. I keep wanting to go lift, but I know it will just drain me.

I have to take a week off once in a while or I start losing strength.

Thanks devastation. Damn weight training is addictive, and it's hard to take a break.

Looking through my log books I see I always plateau after about 4 weeks. Last time I took a week off I came back a lot stronger and totally motivated.

i know the feeling. taking that week off before last week was hard for me as well. but trust me, its for the better!! tb

You should be able to go longer than 4 weeks before needing a lay-off. IMHO.

Indeed.

Re-evaluate everything. Aside from training, are you eating well (quality in addition to quantity!), sleeping enough, stressed?
