I hate Brown Rice and Baked Chicken

Turd Ferguson

New member
It's only been two weeks of eating this stuff and I am already sick of it. I had 2 cheat days and eat pizza and it was like Jesus showed up in my mouth when I ate it.

I could live with the chicken but that brown rice taste like eating hay.

On the up side, I have lost a pound each week and am down to 205. And still have drank some beers on the weekends too. This is the lightest I have been in 20 years. So it is working.

I used to mix my brown rice with steak and/or chicken, so at least you're not eating it on its own. I also added tabasco sauce to give it a little flavor

when it's bland you might as well mix it all together.

adding green/red/yellow peppers always make for good flavoring. i just hate having to cut the peppers. it helps with choking down the brown hay too.

i really don't belong in the kitchen i tell ya.

I love cutting peppers. Anything crisp is enjoyable to cut up (red delicious apples are the best).

I have a good recipe for brown rice / steak/ pepper bowl. I'll try to find it

What kind of steak do you use?

I can't stand the brown rice myself....but one of the ladies in the women's forum suggested cooking it with chicken broth instead of water....I haven't tried it yet but keep saying I'm going to.
Chicken, I do like and am learning all kinds of ways to eat it...on a wheat bun, in a salad, cut and on a wheat tortilla, or grilled with veggies-mainly onions and mushrooms. Not many veggies I like.

Oddly enough I love the taste of brown rice more than white.
Turd, you can try Basmati brown. It really does have a much better taste.
And like K said, you can also boil it with organic chick stock. The commercial brands are laced with MSG!
Congrats on the weight loss....keep it up :-)

I cook it in water with evoo per the instructions on the bag, no seasoning, but an thinking it needs something more.
Ms.Dash will be your new best friend. :)

Seriously I make the 5 min brown rice and eat it more on the wet side with a couple packets of splenda sweetner and some cinnamon. It kinda tastes like rice pudding.

me too...but they both suck without anything added to them. IMO.

Well it's not Jesus Pizza for sure ;-)
I never add anything. When I make rice, I make it will some good spiced up chicken and mix it all together and it's good. I have boring taste buds so really, I don't mind plain rice!

hmmmmmmmmm...I like this

Tamari sauce or soy sauce (low salt ... as if there were such a thing...) --- in the rice -- just a dash so you aren't loading the salt -but it helps. Tamari sauce isn't estrogen-promoting like soy sauce, alsoa consideration.

There is such a thing, but only in a health food section, but are still high in sodium. Also Tamari and Soy has a ton of msg if you buy the reg. brands
Why the hell can't manuf make healthier foods.....damn! ;-)

Use baked potato instead of brown rice for carbs and instead of sour cream use cottage cheese on the potato. Or add a little oil to the rice and mix in some chopped chili peppers, like serranos. Or add a little chicken or beef broth to the brown rice if it is too dry. think think think

Aren't there a ton of calories in potatos? I am trying to keep it under 3000 to drop the weight and get rid of this gut. 10lbs in 5 months should be easy according to the rule of 1 lbs per week with diet and workout.

The only way I think this gut is gonna go is to loose the weight.

are you working out at all? doing any cardio? or just sticking to your guns with the diet?

Work out 4 to 5 times a week with a good weight routine and do 20 min cardio each time too.

Yeah, I though potatoes where a no no as well...that's not right?

What cardio do you do?
I was doing the treadmill but it was really tough on my joints because of a bad accident I was in years ago. I switched to the bike and I can actually even go faster and longer on that.

you guys can eat potatoes when u diet.... just dont' butter the summabitches up.

Unless you prefer to feel like shit from NO carbing it. Depends on how fast u want results i suppose.

I don't even know if I knew brown rice existed up until recently. Grew up with white rice, so it is hard to just switch...I guess it is an acquired taste.

Well to me it's like eating white (death) bread vs whole wheat bread. White bread tastes like cardboard and brown tastes like well...bread! I think the same with rice. White rice tastes of nothing where the brown has some flavor.
That is just me...but I am CRAZY ;-)

I feel the opposite, that whole wheat bread stuff is like gross..not gross tasting really just dry. It's okay for some reason if I toast it. It hard to train old dogs....I figure if I eat enough of it, I will because accustomed to it and hopefully end up preferring it. Harder to convince my son though.

It's really all about changing your taste buds. I think once we get used to anything it's tough to change.
Either way, bread bad, rice good ;-)

Basmati IS much better tasting, Hinode (japanese) brown rice is good too.
I'm on chix rice too, for 6 more weeks. I douse it in balsamic, cholula, and sriracha.. depending upon my mood.

Tread mill. I feel like it is the best workout compaired to the other stuff.
