I Got The Last Laugh Against Cingular

Well after round 2 of trying to get Cingular to allow me to switch phones, they made me an offer. Get out of the contract and migrate into a Cingular one with no termination fees since ATT got bought out. I thought about it, and then my brother the genius that he is gives me a call about 2 hours ago. He found a website that gave him the code to make the phone work with an ATT sim card. I now have my Nokia 6230 up and running with the same plan as before.

And the assholes told me 3 times it wasn't capable of being done.

Hell yeah..that's the way to go. Actually that's been posted on before, here. I never knew about it either but I'm glad it's an option. Fuck those companies, all they want to do is screw people over.

The satisfaction that came from knowing there's an out is great. Especially how those tools tried to bamboosel me into a new deal, more so the guy at the Cingular store than the others.

It's nice to know that if they try to fuck over anyone I know I can show them an alternative.

it didnt work
anddddddddd without even telling me it reset my contract....altho when i upgraded to cingular in February, i had to redo another contract, but when i got the new sim card it reset to april 2 2007

It works from my phone. I see you got one of those future sim cards. Doc Brown and Marty McFly must've brought it back with them.

I think what your brother did was gave you the code to "unlock" your phone and allow it to be used on the carrier you want to use it on.

TONS of shit there on unlocking phones. I only know about that forum because I was looking for free programs (ok, hacked) to use with my motorola so I could connect it to the computer and transfer ring tones and pictures.

your phone will probably only work on old blue towers though (blue = att, orange = cingular)... in which case, you won't be taking advantage of their whole network.. which is vastly superior to att.

Nah....all of the AT&T phones had both the 1900 (AT&T's) and the 850 (Cingulars) GSM bands already in them.....so voice is compatible.

What won't work however is the data side, I unlocked my AT&T Treo 600 to be used with the Cingular Sim, and the data wouldn't transfer.....so I ended up having to buy the new 650 from Cingular.

Oh well.........I hate fucking cell phones anyway.....I carry my Nextel, because all of my sales guys have them.....and my Treo for my family, and to access Manheim Online when I am at the auctions. With as cheap as the family plans are now, I am 86'n the Nextel's (if I never hear that chirp again, it will be too soon) and getting all of my guys Cingular phones...

i have a 650 too... treocentral is the good resource to use for that thing... so many fixes on that site, j.i.c. you didnt' notice all the little bugs the phone comes with.
