Did everyone know Sweet Potatoes and Yams are 2 wayyyyyyy different things? Sweet potatoes are well potatoes and Yams are a roots totaly different family as potatoes...
I feel stupid now
lol weird thing is, those cans that i alwayssssss buy from the grocery store that says "YAMS" in big letters, say on the bottom of the can "Cut sweet potatoes in syrup" could someone explain????????????????
Source: Bruce´s Yams - What are Yams?Botanically, the yam is a sweet potato. But the name is applied only to a scientifically developed sweet potato which can be grown to perfection only in certain soil-rich areas. The variety is distinguished physically by its coppery skin, deep orange flesh and when cooked, its smooth and syrupy texture.
because you are using them for a carb source they are so similar it realy doesnt matter. but canned are not nearly as good as fresh. canned are over cooked and have no skin. for one the skin holds 100% of the fiber and it also is much higher than the rest of the potato/yam in other nutrients.
