Partying hard two days in a row and going on next to no sleep is a lot harder now that I'm 35.
On Friday night I downed 3/4 of a bottle of Grey Goose in the hospitality suite at the hotel while socializing with the family (the family on my Dad's side all love to party and can really pack away the booze). This went on between 10pm and 3am (after I had a 4hr trip to get there)
On Saturday, after the wedding, I started off with a Caesar at lunch (vodka and Clamato juice for you Americans who have no idea what a Caesar is). A few more cocktails with cousins at the hotel, then off to the reception hall for 5pm where we started drinking within 2 minutes of getting off the shuttle bus (open bar all night long).
The reception ended at 1am, and the party shifted back to the hospitality suite at the hotel. More Grey Goose and Texas hold-em til' 5am. When I left at 5, there were still at least 10 hardcore partyers refusing to shut it down (including my dad, who is still an animal in these situations at 65yrs old!, and my uncle who is also the father of the bride and undoubteldy hadn't slept much in several days). I was pretty much a zombie when I dragged myself down for breakfast at 9; my father and my uncle, on the other hand, were full of energy. That was further proof that all the stories I've heard about them in their younger years are 100 percent true and free of embellishment.
Needless to say I'm hurtin' large, and it's going to take an act of God for me to have a decent workout tomorrow.
I won't drink again for a good long while after this!
