well, i was being charitable, hahahaha....

Mr.dB...you must also have been the victim of the British Motorcar Industry, huh? the stories, (now with the passing of time, funny) of what various jags, MGs, sunbeams and triumphs have done to me over the years! owning any vintage British cars was/is an excellent excuse for keeping a reliable american or jap car around.

I am lucky enough to have never owned a British car. Not even tempted, really.

Okay, I could succumb to the charms of a Lotus Seven, Elan, or Europa. I'm sure I'd live to regret it though. I WILL build a Caterham Seven kit someday, if I can ever afford it.

BUT, I have owned three Fiats, and was even a Fiat mechanic for a while in the mid-1980s, so I have already spent my time in purgatory. Our shop took in the occasional Brit car, and I've had to work on a few MGBs, Triumph Shitfires, and once had to put a clutch in a TR6. Step #1: remove the interior...

Hi!

This weekend at a car show / auction at Amelia Island FL, I bought a 1967 Morgan Plus Four.

This is my introduction to the world of classic cars and the people who collect and love them.

I'm not really a car person, but looking for a new hobby and this seemed pretty interesting.

Comments? Questions? Morgan enthusiasts? haters?

Man, don't be like the doctor who buys a Harley then hires a mechanic to fuck with it every time it breaks down. You won't get the full experience unless you're the one with the wrench. That car is gonna take constant fine tunning and possibly, some more horse power and other mods. I would suggest taking some auto classes and buying some books...good luck.

LOL fear not, I bought the car to get a new hobby and meet new people, not to be like the doc you mention.

i have owned three fiats also: '72 124 coupe, '78 128 four door, and a 2000 spyder (124 convertible).

the fiats were marginally more reliable that the brits, but i swera i could pull it into the garage and hear it rust!

i was so discusted with the 128; i left it in a bad secton of town, all the windows down, keys dangling invitingly from the ignition, the radio playing.....came back at 4 am and it was still foikin' there!!! i couldn't even get it stolen!!! :( luckily gasonline shot up in price, and some dumbass football player from Tulane bought it....still can't figure out he got his massive shulders thru the door frame to drive it home. ;)

the 2000 spyder was only 4 years old whne i sold it; it hadn't had enough time to deteriorate yet....sure do miss that one this time of the year!!!

Haha, so true! I had, in order, a '75 X 1/9, a '73 128 SL Coupe, and a '74 X 1/9. I had a strong bond with the '74 and kept it for twelve years. When I finally gave it away, the floor board on the driver's side was so rusted that the glue on the back of the carpet was the only think keeping the steel under there from peeling back like a sardine can. Everyone else at the shop hated 128s, so I got stuck working on all the 128s and X 1/9s, which was just as well because for some reason I didn't like working on 124s. I was also the guy in the shop who got stuck with all the 850s.

A buddy of mine in my neighborhood bought a 1968 Chevorlet Camaro SS 396.
This thing is pristine.
He started his mid-life crisis about the same time I did......

I bought a 69 Camaro from a guy in Texas...I'm jealous of the weather down South.... :worried:
