I am on my friends screen name and I have a question

I am using my friends screen name on here and I want my own but everytime I try to sign up for one it says i cant post anything on here. Do I have to pay for it? A friend of his says no but it still wont let me. Any help thanks

in the confirmation e-mail suppode to be a link that you have to click on to activate your accnt

i think there is a link you are supposed to click on in the email to activate your acct
