I am going to start breaking hips if one more old person.....

doesn't thank me when I go out of my way to hold the door open for them. Twice already this morning I stopped and stepped back to be ncie and hold the door open for the 2 old couples (these incidents were about 2 hours apart) and neither one of them even looked at me, much less said thank you. I ain't a frigin doorman dadgumit! After they just walked thru, I stated in a rather loud voice "YOU'RE WELCOME" and they looked up through their medicare haze and quickly said thank you. I am about to make an example of some old yank that isn't courteous. The same goes for some of you women out there. I am trying to be a gentleman and hold the door open for you and I don't get so much as a "F you!". I swear to you this country is so self absorbed, they can't even offer up the basic "niceities" anymore. Pricks.

Oh, I know! I find that very disappointing too, Darling. However, noble is the man who gives without asking in return. Hold the door as a gesture to help them, and if they do not thank you, at least you did your good deed of the day. Besides, by opening the door to them you may be saving them from a heart attack from too much exercise. And believe me, you don't wanna spend the rest of your life with that in your mind (too many old millionaires in my life, Darling. Too many).

how about when you open the door for one person and a train of 10 start piling in without so much as a gesture

That happens to my husband a lot & it drives me crazy.....

you douchebags should not do good deeds in order to bank good karma. do it, and then forget about it. either your polite or a scumbag in disguise.

Guy once got in my face about holding the door for me going into the drugstore because I whispered "thank you" and HE DIDN'T HEAR ME.

Wait for it...

Wait for it....

I was going to the drugstore because I had laryngitis. DUH!

doesn't it usually feel good to do good? whether or not you're thanked for it, whether or not someone else appreciates it...you've still done it, and you know that. being angry about it probably doesn't feel good. forgive me if i sound sanctimonious. i'm usually a petty bastard, but in this one regard (at the least), i think i remain true to this attitude.

however, i approve of physically abusing the elderly on general principle.

i agree with best ever efriend.

i bet some of you even curse other drivers. not me. i figure that very few people are TRYING to drive recklessly, so if it happens, i let it go and hope they get wherever they are going safely.
