My left Elbow hasn't healed since an ORIF in January. Pretty much haven't been able to lift upper body for a year now. I'm gonna have and arthroscopy. Both doctors took pains to warn me that I may not be able to lift strenuously any more but I am hoping for the best.
Surgery is tomorrow at 5 pm and I will be re-habbing a lot for several weeks if not months afterwards. I know I will resume some level of working out once I recover but I may not be able to get back to the hard-core lifestyle many people on this site lead. I hope you don't hold it against me if that happens.
I have only one request: please no "fuck those doctors, you'll be back benching heavy in no time" kind of comments. It's not the end of the world if I can never again approach my lifting records, I realize there are more important things in life. And while I believe in the power of positive thinking to heal, if the structure of my elbow just can't support that kind of activity, thinking positively and/or disregarding the directions of my doctors isn't going to change that.
ORIF stands for Open Reduction Internal Fixation which means the cut you open and put screws in to stabilize the joint.
Thanks for your support.
