Well, sort of.....I'm bored with the treadmill & elliptical & since we live about 3-4 miles from the gym, my hubby decided that instead of walking all the way, we should run a bit.

So, we started running 3-4 blocks, walk 1-2 blocks, etc. Not too bad.........Got myself some cool lined running tights for when it's cold. Hey, I may be doing marathons in spring...

What's everyone else up to?

hi jenz...I have never been addicted to anything in my life as much as I was when I was RUNNING!!! watch out...LOL

That is SO true - running is addicting! When I ran, I was so obsessive about it. Races are so fun though - I miss them actually.

Jen - you should start to look into 5Ks and 10Ks in your area. Races are such a good environment, especially for a "budding runner" - gives you so much motivation and encouragement.

Congrats on finding something you enjoy! :)

Oh, and what's up with me? I am starting to train for my first competition - a figure comp in March. Yikes!

From now until Mid-Jan, I am concentrating on adding some muscle to my upper body to help balance my lower out a little. My lower body just holds so much muscle (which is good!) but my upper needs a little more thickness. Then I will start to lean out for the comp.

Yikes.... :)

PBR -- I'm addicted to weight lifting & chocolate, wonder if I have room for running?? LOL

Daisy -- Good luck with the comp training!! Let us know how it goes. I was thinking of maybe doing something like that after I get laid off, so keep us informed!!

There's a run/walk race on Thanksgiving day so if we get up early enough, my hubby & I will do it. You don't have to register till the day of if you don't want to, so we'll see. I can't run a whole race yet, but we are working on it!

That is cool jenscat....my 11 year old son runs races with his Dad....how sweet is that....I had a low bf% when I ran....have fun!

I'm running a lot these days, too - 20-25 miles a week. I used to hate it so much in junior high PE, I never thought I'd run for pleasure.

I have the advantage of living a block away from a beautiful landscaped jogging path on a relatively steep grade. Usually I jog downhill, sprint around the park at the bottom (which is flat), then powerwalk uphill. It's about a mile each way. It's great in the early mornings when no one else is out - I have the whole stretch to myself, save for a few wild rabbits and the occasional raccoon or owl. :) Saw a coyote one morning, too.

jenz, which addiction is heavier?? running may balance the scales!!LOL BTW your avatar is awesome....Daisy's addiction may be contagious-obviously she has some residual issues!! LOL

Hey PBR!! I'm hoping the running will burn off some more of the bf I hate, bad body fat!! hehehehe

Are you talking about the flexing woman avatar? I had Homer up before......but it's a cartoon, not me! I wish it was me!! My arms are NOT very cut even with all the work I do......hmmmmm There's that darn body fat again! LOL

I lost one of my computers trying to find that picture. Stupid spam shut down my hard drive! Damn!

yes jenz, the avatar you have now...great artwork, had to second look tho...keep it...the first 2 weeks are the hardest for running, after that it will become easier and more pleasurable- you will learn to relax the body and it becomes almost euphoric...have fun with it, you will see results quickly- it is a learned technique tho, dont get frustrated....
