I am a Conservative

I'm a republican who would find it very difficult to pull the lever in a voting booth for a democrat if he was running for dog catcher. I'm a faithful listener of Rush Limbaugh and agree with 99% of what he says. Here are some reasons why I'm a conservative:

I'm sick and tired of the U.S.A. having to apologize to the rest of the world for being the richest and most powerful nation on earth. Nothing was handed to us. Our founding fathers had a grand design for this great nation and it has endured and prospered for over 225 years. We fought a civil war, went through a great depression, and got stronger and richer in spite of such obstacles. There are people all over the world who hate us because we are rich and powerful but would jump at the chance to live here and have the same opportunities we all enjoy. I say let them eat sand. They allow themselves to be ruled by dictators who hoard all the wealth for themselves and then worship him as if he were a god. And if one of these dictators threatens us, take him out. And I don't give a rat's ass what France, Germany, Russia or any country has to say about it.

We are a republic with an economy that grows and prospers (albeit with occasional recessions) based on sound capitalistic principals. That means anyone born in this country, or immigrates to it, has the same opportunity to live free and prosper. And while some may be more fortunate to have an easier path; hard work, dedication and moral values will reward a person with a rich and fulfilling life. But in this type of society there will be losers. When a 21 yeard old woman has 5 kids by 5 different fathers and isn't working, there isn't much chance she will be getting a job at NASA very soon. And although I have some sympathy for her kids, it isn't my job to pay for their food and shelter. I believe in a safety net, not a protective bubble. The able bodied have to earn their keep.

I worry about the liberal doomsayers who want to destroy the very engines that keep our country growing for the sake of global warming. The earth is billions of years old. The recorded data we have of global temperatures wouldn't even constitute a blink of an eye. I laugh when I read how teperatures are averaging one degree higher than they were 100 yrs ago. How do we know what the temperatures were 500 or 1000 yrs ago?

I also laugh at people like you, jerky, who rail against supporters of the second ammendment but would march in the street against anything or anybody who would infringe upon the first ammendment.

I want judges and justices who will interpret the constitution and not make new law from the bench. I'm sick of reading about children being kidnapped and killed by preditors with 15 arrests and convictions. Lock criminals up and do away with parole. If there isn't enough room, build more jails.

Who else feels this way?

Since when did 2thick and I ever agree or are you being sarcastic?

:)

You live in Canada therefore have no real opinion of this country's affairs, furthermore your political views fall well shy of being that which you claim to be....

In closing, head back to your junior league wanna-be conservative rally and convince someone who gives a fuck....Peace.

Game on wadgobbler....heh heh heh

He lives in America Jr??

Oh nevermind, I thought 2thpick and I had some common political ground.

hehe, j/k.

I'll play along.

1. The wealth we enjoy here means that somewhere else, there area lot of poor people. The poorest are outside of the US. Many of the poorest countries do have their own bars to financial success, such as dictatorial leadership and lack of rights. The founders of this country did have a vision and althought their motive was mostly economic, they created a place where massive wealth could be amassed. When you are ready to trade your own standard of living, I am ready to cry a tear for Bangladesh.

Our economic largesse makes us the singular superpower. The US is not like other nations and cannot be expected to act like them, by bodies such as the UN. We give a lot of money away, and do a lot of good. It so happens that we do a lot of bad as well. When we act, the world moves. Which way it moves may vary, but no other country influences events like we do. Therefore, being judged by other nations who conveniently forget this fact is silly. The "secutiry council" is not made up of equal nations. France is irrelevant save for the nukes. Russia is somewhere between second and third world. And so on and so forth.

Our country's economy is the envy of the world. Lots of people come here from all over. Hard work of immigrants helped build this nation, but 100 years ago there were no public assistance programs. People came here and started working, to eat! while many immigrants today come here and work their ass off, many have also been incentivized to get on public assistance. $300/wk is huge bucks in Guatemala.

Global warming is a tough sell. here in FL, it was a very hot summer. In fact, it was in the news that it was the fourth hottest in the last 100 years. Not exactly the end of the world. The third world's lame attempts to inditrialize and dumbass farming techinques are far worse for the Earth than American industry. Freon is a big hit in China, I hear! Some data is coming tolight, and orecautions should be taken tominimize the known negative impact. But there are so many "atmospheric dommsayers....." who are equally uninformed.

Gun control = hit where you aim. Remember Matt's rules for imposing martial law:

1. Disarm the citizenry.
2. Impose martial law.

You're nuts if you think it can't happen here.

I would love to see the Constitution followed more strictly. That has little to do with the sentencing of crimials: the Constitution specifies little more than a right to a speedy jury trial. Usually it is the Congress that passes wacky laws despite the Constitution. The 10th Amendment limited the federal governemnt's powers, and I would like to see it followed.

As to crime - fewer jails. We criminalize too many behaviors here. The true criminal should get what they deserve. Other than that, we need more freedoms, not fewer.

Do you want to debate any of the issues that you've presented?

Because if you do, I'll keep your offer in mind, but I imagine you'll be too busy packing all those straw men back into your basement to engage in a debate any time soon.

Come on, indulge him.

I used to think that I was conservative, until I realized that the word has little meaning since political philosophy is not able to be boxed neatlhy into "liberal" or "conservative". I think I would consider myself a Jeffersonian Republican, which is not even close to the party of today, or an Authoritative Libertarian.

I can't be a conservative, since I don't agree with Limbaugh as much as the above author.
