First ........ you must have a warant attained after probable cause to do any type of taping on any electonic device.... As per the 1986 ECPA (Electonic Consumer Privacy Act) and first Ammendment. This is assuming this is on US Soil. They must then attach a computer to the ISP....like carnivore ( a packet sniffing program) to intercept specific packets to your adress..from the domain server. This is assuming they have a warant for a complete tap, then there is a roling tap, a one side tap ( where they may only read the destination ifno who you are comunicating with)...it is complicated...everything must eb done within 30 days...unless a judge issues an extension..... It is a tremendous amout of bulshit..and agent has to be ther every 2 days taking out a disk from teh computer at the ISP.....sealign it with a special seal signing for it ..makign sur eit wasnt compromised etc. THIS IS FOR 1 person. In this case it is of shore.....international treaties apply...basically like switzerland....that info is non admisable....and illegal for the govt to attain from another sovereign country.

Now as in this case.....the FUCKING SERVER WAS NEVER COMPROMISED.......some jagof happened to hack into the WEB SITE ( ip adress...domain) etc...and then safegaurds kicked in that prevented any trafic jsut in case......And left a Secret Service Logo...are you fuckign totaly brain dead...secret service going outside its jurisdiction 1000% and then breakign international laws with an openly blazent advertising?

Now...even though soem idiot managed to briefly hack into the Domain server ( ip adress) this is not shit.....this is not where the 2048 bit encrypted info is stored.....
There is no FUCKING WAY to acces that info by any fucking body other than YOU period......END OF STORY....Hushmail uses somethign similar to PGP..........but better...
YOu have a public key...(encrypted) ...a private key( which is changed each time it iss sent ) and always encrypted...and it send oout a new key each time as your AES......its a complicated procedure....READ THE WAY HUSMAIL WORKS THE SIMPEL VERSION YOU WILL HAVE SOME IDEA.....the only way to break this is to set up a com[puter such as the pentagon has....and spend SHITLOADS OF TIME CRACKING 1 account.... Not only would this Violate the constitution, jurisdiction, ECPA, and international treaties btu would cost the govt in the hundreds of thousands.....

Another note.....About people that may say well the patriot act....info gathered under tha patriot act is only admisible in the cas etat you are a terrorist.

In recent hours we have been made aware that security was compromised at the domain registrar responsible for the hushmail.com domain. For a brief period, this domain was forwarded to a server belonging to an unidentified party, which resulted in our web page being unavailable or appearing defaced.

There was no unauthorized access to any of the Hush servers. Data managed by Hush was not compromised. During this period, email sent to hushmail.com will not have been delivered.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused. We take this incident very seriously, and will continue to update this page as more information becomes available.


Just Like azul posted.....What this all means...DOMAIN= IP= Web page....
Hushes Page is non Encrypted.....wha this means...some fool hacked into the web page and redirected the page to another IP....thus you saw instead of the HUSH page ..another Web page...NOT 1 THING TO DO WITH EMAIL......
NO HACKER IS GOING TO "HACK INTO HUSHMAIL" A good example would be...if 1 day instead when typing in elitefitness...you were transfered to chad nichols.

As for my post....its harsh..but thats ok...i promised it would be constructive and it will...i will post links to teach you guys about...how computers, internet, servers, encryption works. Taking some Govt. 101 clases wouldnt hurt you guys either.
 
Its working now and has been yesterday..it was down real briefly....they caught that situation within minutes!
 
I understand the premise that the attempted hacking didn't get very far, but personally the whole deal was a little aggravating for me as I did apparently miss an important email. I have multiple email addresses, even a Hotmail account, but that's probably the longest I've been unable to login to any account in years.

I mean, the costs can get pretty high depending on how much storage you purchase, then you go through the somewhat complicated login, and after all that a guy has to go to bed without checking his email because the site's down?

I dont understand what is going on. I still cannot even get onto the opening page of hushmail.com. I am still getting that the address does not exist. Monday 3 am est
 
I now about 20 people that cant reach the elitefitness mail account..

Does anyone now if this problem is getting fixed??

You are able to log onto Hushmail.com?? I dont understand how that can be, how some get in and others cannot. When I try to log onto the site it says that the domain doesnt even exist.

Well if you read their press release about the domain name system being comprimised, that makes total sense. Some ISP's cache dns resolutions that are only refreshed every so many days, bad luck for you, sounds like your ISP is one of them. I can resolve ok, but I still cannot log into the server, so there are other issues as well. this is 3 days no I have not had access to my email.

yea i couldnt log on over the weekend , but today i tried it and it worked fine

thanks, I am glad you said that. I have not seen a press release. can you post it here for us to read? I use roadrunner by time warner cable, cable modem. Guess ours has not refreshed yet.
 
I am so freaking frustrated. I still cant get in and contacted time warner and their tech could get in but I still cannot. He had me unplug my cable modem from power and reboot thinking it would clear old dns info, but still no luck.

Everyone should try clearing their cache.

You know tools->internet options

Then delete temporary files, clear history and delete cookies.

I can log in fine but not getting any of my fucking mail and others I dont think are getting what I send either I know because I tried to exchange mail with some one I was on the phone with and he didnt get mine and I didnt get his wtf this is fucking ridiculous losing tons of fucking time,effort and $$$ over this BS.

What a tech, they dont cash dns information in the cable modems. You can clear dns cache locally by opening a command prompt and typing "ipconfig /flushdns" When I cleared mine after the dns hacking incident on Saturday, I could resolve to the IP address once again, but it still times out, so they have other issues.
 
coputers & internet fordumies101. is a good start. IM not joking either. ITs worth picking up so that you may know more about the internet and how everything works. If you routinely clean your hard disk thru a prog such a sBC wipe...you woudl not ahve aproblem as everything is cleared on each startup or shutdown if you want doen so.

(just a random number).

PolfaJelfa got one thing wrong -- the "hack" was even less than he describes.

NOTHING AT HUSH WAS TOUCHED. NOT EVEN THEIR WEB PAGE. Someone called Network Solutions and got them to change where the Hushmail domain name pointed. Imagine a couple of kids turning a street sign around, so people went to East 52nd Street instead of West 52nd Street.

The little jerkoffs put up a fake web page at that address -- that was the one with the "Secret Service is watching" bullshit on it. So you can see, they DID NOT have to hack the Hush web server to do that.

It's very similar to what happened to panix.com a couple of months back -- Network Solutions let some jerk steal their domain over a weekend and didn't answer the real owners' phone calls when they tried to get it back.

As "hacks" go, it's a big fat zero. These bozos couldn't read your mail, and they couldn't send fake mail with your key -- the only thing they could do was keep it from getting delivered. Which is a pain in the butt, but it's nothing like hacking the Hushmail system itself.

Department of homeland security has been busting many [who would have guessed] DRUG dealers under guise and rights in the patriot act with no reprocussions. While it is supposed to be for terrorists, its really not- It can be used against almost anyone.

I just sent my source some cash today, and with my shitty luck, I e mailed him to confirm that i sent it, and i got an e mail back from aol saying (oh, and btw, I just used aol to send him the word "Sent", as in i sent him the cash today.i did not do anything through aol) and I got this message from aol mail:

any way to prevent this form happening? I have read about keyloggers, and sure as hell dont want one on my computer...LOL

Sure bro, get to know how the computer works hands on ..the whole operating system...use unix/linux if possible...use a unanymous proxy server (overseas) , have a VPN(virtual private network), make your computer cleans itself regularly via multiple passes( at least per Dept of Defense Standards).. make sure all the secret info is being cleaned as well(caches, hibernation filesm MRU, MSF, sectors, etc, use secure email 2048 bit enycyption or higher....encrypt the computer working on with military strenght encryption Blowfish(cipher block chaining mode) or higher over 3,000 bits preferably, have necesary interception programs, Strict firewals, antiviruses, anti spyware and many diferent modifications you must make manualy to the operating system. A program called BC wipe is a good thing to have too!
