Hunting Licences?

samoth

New member
Okay, I come from a non-hunting family and stuff, so I have no clue about anything hunting-related...

How much do hunting licences cost? Do they differ for the type of weapon used (gun v. bow)? Do they differ for they type of game one is seeking (small game v. large game)?

I want to be able to legally bowhunt something like rabbit of squirrels for practice (first year taking up the bow), and I'm not really sure about how the rules or regulations work for this kinda thing.

Thanks!

Most states require a Hunter Safety Course before getting a hunting license, so you can learn the regulations of your jurisdiction. They are normally held in the evenings by your game commission in a local classroom, and are generally free to the public. I'd check into that first. You are still near Purdue right?

Looks like the next class is:

Ooh, really? Good thing I checked, lol.

Do you have any idea how much hunting licences cost, generally speaking? Like, in the $20 range... or the $200 range... . I'm just looking for a moving target to stalk or still-hunt moreso than actually 'hunting' for something like elk or whitetail, and actually field dressing it and all that jazz.

I've heard they can actually compound your vehicle for improper hunting or hunting without a licence...

Thanks!
