Humans: The Dumbest Creatures on Earth?

Think about it. Humans evolved a form of higher thinking than other "lesser" animals, but in doing so we also have twindled our natural thinking.

An ant is born knowing it's niche in life: to serve the colony. It will not kill another ant without due cause. It will not stray from it's job. It will do what it was born to do.

A human is born knowing nothing. Everything must be taught. They have no natural behavior. They act based on their surroundings. It has no true niche in life except to live and die.

Is it possible that humans have evolved a way of thinking which completly destroys it's true intelligents? We are the only creature on the planet that strives on destroying other life. We are the only creature on the planet that will kill another of it's own species without due cause. We are the only creature on the planet that has no niche, no meaning to be here. We are not part of any circle of life. Are we the lesser creatures on Earth?

As you mentioned, we are taught almost everything we know. "to kill" is a concept taught to us. We are indeed products of our environment, and therin lies the problem.

Certain breeds of monkeys will band together and fight small wars between groups, killing each other.

To some extent, children can live on their own in the wild, they are refered to as a "wild child" once back into civilization, hard to teach, I believe there was a popular case of this in the 1800's in france...i could be WAY off though, but i've seen videos about this child, i dont think there were many documented others however.

I think we are on the absolute top of the foodchain, there is not one animal we couldn't kill by some method, when we use our minds.

We have natural behaviors. lots of them. If a baby feels like it is falling it will swing its arms to the front and try to grab for something. i think our development comes from both biological and environmental factors. i'm also thinking we aren't here for a purpose, since i don't believe in fate. we're just here, trying to make it "better."

why do people always come up with these silly arguements about mankind.

on the african plains when a dominate male lion takes over a pride, his first order of business is to perform infanticide, that is the killing of all the lion cubs that are not of his gene pool. he will then mate with the lioness' to produce his own offspring in order to leave a legacy.

Actually ants are among the most aggressive life forms on the planet and constantly at war with otherant colonies.

Some ants raid other ant hills and abduct the eggs of them.
These are raised to be slaves.

I saw a cat this morning, waiting on a car and watching a bird nest. It probably would have killed every little bird if it couldhave reached it and not for hunger, since the cat is fed by it´s owner.

People who claim humans are evil compared to the innocent
wild creatures watched Bambi too often ( no offense meant).

I disagree.

dumb:

"Unintelligent, regarded as having or showing a low level of intelligence"

intelligence:

"Ability to think and learn: the ability to learn facts and skills and apply them, especially when this ability is highly developed"

Your argument is extremely flawed for obvious reasons. No species on Earth can think and learn like humans, thus, we are the most intelligent species. Who cares what you are born with, being dumb means that you can't think and learn once you are born.

Ardvark, you must not read often, and if you do, it must be shit like the bible or some other mind tainting peice of literature.
Please educate yourself before you make a post about something so false.

Has there ever been a thread on this board where someone did not resort to making negative comments about the Bible or Christianity, even when it didn't relate to the topic at all? What words in his post lead you to believe he got any of that from the Bible?

I love how you "open-minded" people think. How can you totally dismiss the most read and studied book in history as "mind-tainting" bunk and still pretend that you are anything less than narrow-minded yourself?

I love how you "open-minded" people think, closing yourself off from a legitimate historical document and one of the most read pieces of writing in the world.

First off, it was a comment, second I never said that he got this idea from the bible, I related that he must read mind tainting things "like" the bible.
Now lets talk about the bible since you obvioussly want to. What makes it legitimate, the fact that it is old, or the fact 1/7 of the worlds population reads it? Just because it is read does not make it legitimate. Tell me again where i was being close minded.

So what you're saying is that you weren't talking about the Bible at all, you just seized the opportunity to take a cheap shot at the Bible while you were talking about other "mind-tainting" works? What you're saying in essence is that your only reason for even mentioning the Bible is to let everyone know that you think it is garbage? Well, then I stand corrected.

Have you ever read the Bible?

this must be a quote from that living Budda book. Wodin was telling me about.:)

No, I have read that book too, and this is not from that, unless there is another book, that I have not read yet

The reason why you are close minded is because you don't recognize that the moral and ethical lessons the Bible speaks of correllates perfectly with the Four Noble truths of Buddism.

Both are instructions on detachement of the phyical plane in order to find a path to a more happier life.

Now either you are too closeminded to see that or you just want to draw attention to yourself.

Either way-you just got rolled.

:)

Thats not being close minded, that is just chosing to explore before I settle. I never said it was wrong, I mearly questioned it.
Questioning something is not being close minded, I have tolerance.

I could have sworn that you said it was "mind-tainting" literature. That's going a little farther than just questioning it.

I don't know about humans being the dumbest, definitely the most wasteful... I do know that I trust animals. Wild animals' basic instincts are to kill and eat you. That's what they are going to do, period. Humans will love you one minute, fuck you over the next, you never know what to expect. I don't trust humans.

Just because humans are the most intelligent lifeform on this planet doesn't mean that their intelligence is anything to write home about.

Signals are sent out incase some"thing" can recieve them, i believe sent out in several different languages and assorted codes, not for sure but if you've ever seen Universal Soldier and there is a massive satellite dish at the beginning, i believe they use that big mofo for these transmissions, among other things probably.

warik speaking of you writing home.. do we really try to communicate with aliens?

I don't know if we do, but attempting to communicate with them with our current technology is futile at best. If any alien races had the ability to intercept our transmissions and locate us, then chances are, they probably already know about us. Sending out some signals at the speed of light is going to take years to reach the nearest star system, and even longer to reach any kind of intelligent life.

Besides, who'd bother trying to communicate with a multi-government, savage species that hasn't even left its own solar system yet?

Wow, this certainly got off topic lol.

First off let me explain that what I wrote was pure bullshit, and I don't believe in one word I said. I just wanted to check something about human behavior, and I was right for the most part.

But since you were so nice to bring up the topic of the Bible, well let me say that I am not religious at all. However, I believe the Bible is the most influencetial piece of literature ever written. While I think the Bible is just a huge contradiction of itself, it can help you alot in life. Whether you want to actually believe in it, or want to use it to control other people.

I think slavery would be a reason... or maybe they need new pets for their zoos ;)

Any species advanced enough for long distance space travel is certain to have outgrown such savage practices as slavery and animal imprisonment - something humans have yet to overcome.
