HST peeps...

a few questions,

1.) During the 3rd week of 5's and after would it be ok to increase the # of
reps rather than the weight itself or doing negatives? Like if my max
db curl is 50 lbs, I do 50 for 6...50 for 7...etc. As long as the general
trend of resistance is upwards?

2.) If at the end of the 10's I feel I could keep progressing over my max,
which is usually the case, can I extend it a couple days...keep adding
weight and calculate my 5 rep max's as needed when finished?

3.) Would it be ok to nix the 15s completely on my next cycle and just start
with the 10's? I've never gotten shit from the 15's and think it's a
waste of time.

1 - no... just increment the weight
2 - yes you can push the 10RMs
3 - i wouldn't lose it entirely, maybe a week of 15's with the weight seamlessly leading into your first 10s weight

do at least one week of the 15's. I think most people hate them because they are so demanding (well for me at least). Your joints will thank you when you are older. trust me. I always do a week of 15's before starting any training cycle to prepare and heal my joints and tendons up. this is prior to anything HST, 5x5, whatevs.

Can you elaborate on this one? As long as there is progressive resistance I don't see what the problem would be.

Sure I can curl the 50 lb dbs for 5 reps maybe 6. I probably wouldn't be able to hit the 55's for 5 with decent form. So you're saying it would be better to continue using the 50's and stopping at 5 for 3 more workouts rather than increase the reps by 1 each time I lift.

you could sub bb's in place of the db's and add 5 lbs at a time. Just a thought.
