HST and doing a show

OK HST guru's...I am in week 4 of a 12 week HST cycle using 10's and 8's because I am using AAS. After this HST cycle (which is my second) I need to decide which route I am going to prepare for my June show. Can I do HST right up to the last 12 weeks or should I switch to the 5*5??? I worry about HST and the dieting and cardio.
 
Do something more conventional like a 5x5..it will bring your strength up when you are still in the mass gaining\bulking and period and you will retain a lot more strength when you diet down...as opposed to HST where the strength gains are minimal at best
 
I'm not so much worried about the strength as I am the size...the HST they call for eating alot of calories so i was worried that when i go into a lower caloric intake that I will not provide enough food for growth and will be in a state of over training and withering away.

How much are you currently consuming?
 
halfaclue,..I found HSt to be mainly a great mass building program once I switched my diet around. Tried my first cycle of HST using the progam to a "T" including the suggested "Eating for Size" part of it and found I was actually cutting quite well when my actual goal was to gain Mass. I upped my caloric intake a bunch and the mass came with it.

Since then they've up-dated the HSN part of it a bit for better understanding. Here's the link:

Read the page figure out yer BMR and go from there and see how it works for ya, but I'd personally stick with the HST.

I would just stick with HST. A good growth stimulus means you're gaining solid mass when bulking and keeping it when dieting

Plus the higher-rep fullbody work will help with carb depletions

OK I was WAAAAAAAY off..according to the link from the HST site that Johnny sent me... protein is 4cal per gram and fat is 9cal per gram and carb 4 cal per gram. The sheet I got in college from our nutrionist had the following values:

Protein 7 cal per gram
Fat 11 cal per gram
Carb 7 cal per gram

So if the values on the hst site are correct then I was eating under my BMR the entire time I was doing HST and I still managed to gain weight. Does anyone know for sure what the breakdown of carbs fat and protein are as far as calories per gram?
 
I don't drink except maybe once a month so that is not a factor. The amazing part is I have had decent gains of my last three cycles and all of my nutrion info has been wrong. So when i do my upcoming cycle in january i should blow the fuck up!!! I'm pissed about the past but psyched about the future!
