I am thinking about doing an Atkins type thing but am not sure if what Ive got down is right on so i figured id post it and see what kinda feedback i get. here it is:

Meal 1 : 3 hard boiled eggs and 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese
Meal 2 : 2 celery stalks with 2 tbspns of natural peanut butter
Meal 3 :1 can of tuna in water with 2 tablespoons of full fat mayo
Meal 4 :whey shake
Meal 5 : 2 grilled chicken breasts with green salad with flax and vinegar
Meal 6 : sugar free jello

I am in college so even this is gonna be difficult in terms of gettign all the food but the only problem I can see with it is that it is only like 1400 calories. I dont know where else to add though to get more?!!? Any suggestions would be awesome..thanx!

I never did atkins so I can't help much but meals 2 - 4 are low in calories. Can you eat maybe 2 cans tuna for meal 3 and maybe another shake with meal 2?
I was wondering how you did in the competition. Whatever you were doing must have been working.

confusion possibly?

I have never competed...i think there is another person on here named supergirl but that is not me...i wish what ive been doing had been working...haha...but no luck...
i think i would puke on 2 cans of tuna....lol....
any other advice?

Hmm

How Much do you weigh Super GIRL? If your real little 1400cals is probally enough, I weigh 210 and eat around 2500-2700. But as for ideas for College eating, Keep regular eggs in the Fridge, get a microwave safe bowl, scramble them up, put some butter in and Microwave, just like Scarmbled eggs. Cheese is another good food get some hard cheeder cut it up and eat it whenever. Sour CReam, taste real good with meat. If you are in college most colleges have a Chicken Bake thing, or Get cheese burgers and dont eat the bun, alot of fat and protein there. SAndwhich Meats, Egg Salad, Tuna Salad. This might sound weird But I buy Parmisain Cheese and eat it by the spoonful when I get hungry bewteen meals. Also my favorite thing now are these EAS demo 7 gram Protein bars, 7 grams of protein 1 carb 1 fat, 70cals, Cookies and Cream, Ive seen them at 7-11, GNC, and Im looking to where I can buy them in bulk, they are just the right size.

Hmm High fat low carb diets can be real fun, it is amazing all the crap you can come up with. Do you live in the dorms or an Apartment, cuz if you live in an aprartment or a house get a grille and have steak.

I'm 195 and lots of days i only eat about 2000-2500 calories so you might be alright.

Tuna rocks on Atkins. Do what i do. Take 2 cans of tuna and drain, pop them in a blender. Add an egg and some mayonaise, maybe a little hot sauce ;). Blend it up. Heat up a skillet with a little butter and cook the tuna. Its pretty tasty hot or warm

Adkins

I can't seem to get through Adkin's. I love tuna, but I have a problem with that diet. I need CHO once and awhile. Tuna's is great on lettuce(your choice) with some 1000 island dressing and onion. Good luck, Supergirl with the diet:wavey:

Supergirl, to accurately answer your question we need to know your current
weight and your goals. Do you want to maintain your current weight and condition,
do you want to loose some weight and body fat? Or do you want to gain some
muscle and size.

Whatever the answer, some general guidelines:
- for fat loss/weight loss your daily calorie intake should be approx 12 x bodyweight
- for maintenance it should be approx 15 x bodyweight
- for gaining size/weight it should be 18 x bodyweight

You can accomplish all the above on an atkins diet, although it would tough to get
enough calories on a bulking diet without carbs.

For the diet plan you've shown, if the calories are too low I suggest:
- adding flax oil with your protein shake (meal 4)
- adding peanut butter with your jello (meal 6)

Otherwise, I think you've done a great job with your plan.

Also, if you're doing heavy weight training you will need some carbs at some point.
Either a carb-up, about every 4th day, or a few carbs immediately after your
weight workout. Without this, you may not get the most benefit from your weight
training.

Can you provide a little more info on your current weight, condition, goals, training
program etc?

Hey supergirl. I dont believe atkins works. You need to eat carbs to burn fat and to grow muscle. People lose weight on atkins, but most of the time it is water weight and muscle. Then when they eat normally again - and you will - they pile on the weight. I'm a personal trainer and I've seen atkins fuck people up over and over again. Canadian Cobra's right - either add carbs daily, especially after training, or carb up every 3-4 days. Good luck
