How would a boxer diet?

I'm sure it would be a high carb diet, unless there are boxers that can jump-rope and do speed bags on low/moderate carbs. I don't think boxers think as hard about their diets as BBers. They probably eat for their training and stay fairly lean both on and offseason.

Diet isn't a huge factor. When you train intense 6 - 10 hrs a day, the diet doesn't really matter. Mike Tyson starts his day w/a 6 mile run and goes from there. I do think you're gonna need a good amount of carbs. The weight should take care of itself, and if you're heavyweight it shouldn't even be a factor, as long as it doesn't slow you down.

I think diet is huge huge factor for boxers. I dont mean diet in the sense of restriction, but more in the sense of eating for performance.

Boxers diets will vary some from a bodybuilders, because even though most are in great shaoe w/ low bodyfat, their main concern isnt looking good but fighting good. Carbs should be the base along w/ protein and healthy fats.

I would think just sensible good clean eating focusing on maybe 50% carbs,30-35% protein and 15-20% fat would be a good breakdown. Also, i would imagine boxers can have more leway in terms of eating some junk more often than a bb'er getting ready for a contest.

This is what im thinking of doing over the summer when i dont have any school so i can just concentrate on this.
Monday:
Wake up: drink 3 scoops of whey protein ( pre run)

ten minutes later: stretching, for ten minutes skip rope, then run a course that is over 500 meters easily aobut 8 times, stop for a minute, and do it again. then jog for a while.

After run: ten minutes of shadow boxing to warm up.

Excercises: 3 sets of 30 situps, 3 sets of 30 crunches, 3 sets of 10 toe touches, 2 sets of 20 double touches, 5 sets of 20 pushups, 2 sets of 10 REALLY close grip pushups,

After excersices: drink 4 eggs and have 4 peices of toast, Handful or 2 of peanuts.

then do shadow boxing for 10 minutes.

probably go skipping later in the day.
Lot more food during day but thats all i can figure out now

Tuesday excersices:

taking 10 pound weights and holding them at shoulder length for a minute, do this 2 or 3 times. one handed pushups 5 each side, 5 sets of 20 with 30 pounds doing barbell curls, 3 sets of 20 squats, 2 sets of 16 lunges,

diet same as monday.

alternate these two days every day untill friday then rest the weekend and restart on monday.

Please give me feedback.

That routine looks kind of jacked up. Are you training for a September fight or what? Where's your bag work? Where'd you get this routine, just wondering? Oh, and drop the whey to half that amount or nothing at all before your run. Are you trying to drop weight or what?

Kid dynamite:
The reason it looks so fucked up is because i was posting it kind of like a guidline and for people to make adjustments. The bagwork i will be doing 3 times a week an hour each, and plus I will be doing a ton of shadowboxing and practising dodging and swaying with a friend.Do you have any advice on the routine?

Ok.
To customize it, you need to list a few key ares you'd like to improve. If you plan on doing this routine, diet needs to only be basically clean foods to use for energy, if you're looking to drop weight then 3 hrs bag work plus this routine should do it. Like I said, just list one or two ares you really want to improve on, and I'll try to help. Also, is there a reason your workouts are centered around bodyweight workouts (pushups, etc) there's nothing wrong with it, I'm just wondering so I can help design something and not add stuff you couldn't do. Also, how old are you?

The few areas im really trying to work on is my speed and dropping weight. I already have good form and i am strong as hell. The main reason my workouts are focused around bodyweight excersices are because that is how i was taught how to do things when i first started boxing, so training with weights might seem a bit weird but i would give it a try i guess. At the moment i am 17. Second last year of high school right now.

Speed bag, obviously. Running, obviously. You could try a carb cycling diet, but if you have til September, I wouldn't worry about weight unless you need to drop like 20 - 30 lbs. Speed is instinctivly learned; just train on how to counter and you'll notice you get quicker. In my experience, I gained alot of speed using a heavy bag and hitting it with a quick four hit combo, l,r,l,r, which was jab, cross, hook and then uppercut. I can land that combo amazingly fast now. Don't forget to work the hell outta your back, shoulders and especially midsection. You are working with a trainer, correct? If it comes down to it, follow their advice over any one elses. They know your strengths and weaknesses and can help more than anyone who doesn't. Good Luck.

What do you think I should do about diet though, I have to loose like 20 pounds( rough guess) but I want it to be all fat so i can be around 170 with no fat so i can move quicker without all that fat slowing me down.

That should be easy. You have 3 months to lose 20. You can aim for about 1 - 2 lbs. gone a week. Train hard and eat clean, then when you notice your progress has stalled, start cutting some calories. You always will want to keep your calories as high as possible while losing fat. If you can lose 2 lbs./week on 3000 cals, then there's no reason to eat 2000, slow your metabolic rate and lose the ability to drop calories as progress slows. With the amount of stuff you're gonna be doing, you should keep losing weight for a good while.

Thanks bro for your help, i just need one more question answered.
Do you think my training program is good like for excersices, I have kinda figured out my diet so that is fine but I just was wondering about those damn excersices, or should I really focus more on punching?
