How to train chest after a pec tear?

Anyone here train chest after a pec tear? I tore my pec pretty bad last year doing incline bench. Now when I do chest even a year later I'm very weak and I feel like my pec is going to tear again. I don't know if that's mental or what but it just really really sucks that I can't go heavy like I used to.

#1) did you have a orthopedic surgeon repair the torn muscle?

I completley ruptured my pec 2 years ago, It takes a long time to recover from a bad pec tear bro. Im still not 100% and I dont feel comfortable doing heavy bench. I reccomend useing DB'S and smith machine. I also reccomend you see a pysical therapist.

Yes I saw an orthopedic sergeon who did MRI's and said I did not need surgery and I would heal on my own.

Ok I just wanted to hear someone that was in the same boat as me then. actually it's been a little over a year and a half since I tore my pec pretty bad and haven't felt comfortable doing alot of pec exercises.

I would think dumbells would make it worse not better since your range of motion with a dumbell is longer then it is with a barbell

The smith machines I can understand

If you only had a partial tear it will heal on its own. However you said you torn it pretty bad, so im going to assume its a complete tear. Get a 2nd a opinion bro. My orthopedic surgeon said there was documented cases of fixing a ruptured pec 10 years later, but the longer you wait the more difficult it is to repair, I waited about 2 months after the tear and the tendon was significantly retracted.
