How to market my music

Any music gurus in here? I have a quick question. I make beats, some rap beats, but i think mostly the stuff I make and record is stuff you would hear in a movie. Or tv shows. Its music that doesnt really sound good with words. I think its because most rap songs are simple, where as my beats are more complex, with strings and piano, drums, brass, organs, etc. Some of my beats sound sick tho to rap with. Anyway I have all the software to record everything, but what would I do with it? Any legitimate places that you can sell music, especially music that isnt just rap beats?

I am now helping a few artists, mostly just as friends but I do indeed work with some too.
#1 Hip-Hop is virtually a dead artform which is followed by people
who are behind on the times 99% of the time. You need to have better taste in music before you do anything.
#2 Learn how to DJ if you have not yet, from there upload your mixes to soundcloud.com
I know people who have built careers by uploading their music to sites like that and contacting people via social networking sites.

Your focus should be on professional advancement through education and solid career choices, not screwing around with pie in the sky music dreams or flaky bizops or whatever harebrained schemes go through your mind every other day.

Well yea its just a hobby, im going to school full time so i am advancing toward a career. I think learning how to dj would be awesome.ill check that friends youtube out lart, maybe ill post some samples later too
