For the past three years i have noticed that my right pec is smaller than the left. Not just a little smaller but mayber 15% -20%smaller. i ve work a lot with dumbels but after two years of that both sides got bigger, but the right side is still noticiceably smaller. any one else have smililar problem or any suggestions to get the right side caught up .

when you bench, make sure you use a barbell instead of dumbells and also check yourself in the mirror to make sure both arms are level with each other throughout the lift. give it time and you chest will level out as long as you are using correct forum with all your lifts.

My right arm was always smaller... so just started doing a few extra sets only on that arm.... and on off days tossed in a few sets on right arm.. NOt sure about chest... maybe a stationary machine where you can move the smaller side independ.

I am training the young man in the Link ( I am nor guru just been around the block)
and his Chest while not uneven was not a better body part, now it less then 4 weeks is becoming INSANE lol :)

Incline Presses With Dumbbells are your Best friend :)
and Dumbell Flys ( Super strict) are you girlfriend :)

"finesse" is the best way I describe form on Crucial exercises

but you must focus on the best form possible and pretend as if is every part of the rep is important

surprised no one has mentioned this yet:

use dumbells, but the side that is smaller, use the next level up

left chest smaller and currently using 80lbs, left 85 right 80 (just example) until it grows a bit then even itself out. Do this for a while and it should work :) or , if staying with the same weight, and you're working on your left - try and do extra reps just on that side.

I had the same problem. First go and get cracked make sure everything is inline. Then work the week side 1 extra time a week. The main reason for this is that one arm was stronger then the other so when you would do chest the arm that was stronger would take over givin you less work on the pec. Your weaker arm would make the pec work harder increasing the pec faster. This was my case.

When you say "everything is inline" do you mean he should go see a chiropractor for scoliosis?

wouldn't u use dumbells instead? that way instead of on barbell having the stronger pec take over and letting the weak be aided with dumbells u allow both 2 strengthen 2 the same weight?

i find that it is easier for me to keep a good form when i do barbell bench. i also dont put clips on the ends, so if i get sloppy without a spotter, i will be able to tell easier. With two separate movements going on, i find that i can get into a bad posture and poor form a lot easier than if everything was moving all at once. Its just a personal preference though. If you think its easier to keep everything level with dumbells, then go ahead and do it. I just feel that i can get in weird positions easier with dumbell presses.

i c what ur saying but my opinion if i had one weak pec i would do light dumbelles, 4 sets of 12, that should strengthen up the weak one asap
But he said hes already been using the dumbells. So either hes like me, and its hard for him to keep good form using dumbell press, or he just doesnt know how to lift weights. Just trying to help out bro. :)

I have the same problem wit my balls. one is bigger than the other....

You need to also make sure that your arms are even on the other plane too. So that your arms are completely perpendicular to your body. You don't want one hand coming down an inch above the other one and you also don't want it an inch out in front of the other. I guess you might want to check the third plane too...each arm is the same distance away from the side of your body.

Having someone look at you will benching can see that.

Yes that and to make sure everything is in line. My doctor told me I was leaning too much to one side. After 4-7 visits I could see the different in my right peck. Also I have been in very bad motocross crash which did not help my back. So if you had any problems in the past that would put anything out of line go get checked. If worked for me. Also smith incline press to the neck worked great to bring it up. Really concentrate on your weak side will do them.

Im going to start doing extra reps and may use slightly heavier weight on one side as mentioned. ausome advice every one.
Try doing barbell bench with your feet elevated in the air as if your doing an ab crunch. This will cause your stabalizer muscles to keep your body/bar balanced and should work the weaker side of your chest more. Go nice and slow squeezing your pec the whole time.
