how to get a job as a bouncer

Dont matter how big you are bro its what your packin. You cant ever show fear. Size dont mean shit believe that. My boy is the baddest mofo in my town. No one fucks with him. Hes about 5'8 175. Ive seen him drop one of the biggest guys from golds and his friend. Actually went to court. The big dude pressed charges on my boy, mikey. The judge laughed and said are you kidding? this guy kicked your ass? needless to say it didnt fly. Ive seen him cracked in the head with a baseball bat and had a crow bar swung at him. Hes a tough sob. A fuckin animal.

Ok flashman... what do you get into bouncing for then??? If it's just for the money, then why not do any other job besides that??

Well, initially, I had just gotten out of the military, and at the time most of my friends were bouncers, so I got asked by the club owner to come work... Within 3 weeks at the dance club I worked at, I was cooler, and making $250 a night, 3 nights a week for a 4-hour shift. Another reason is all that excess pussy, which at 23, was all that mattered to me. Once you start to develop a reputation, other club owners will come check you out and ask you if you want to come work for them too, that's how it happened for me. Sure, when it got ugly, I got hurt plenty of times, but it was a good job for extra cash at the time, that's how I got into it... I don't do it anymore, haven't since '98. There were bouncers at the night club I worked at (big club) that made $7-$10 an hour, but like I said before, those guys were just deterrents. I would NEVER bounce for that little money, hell I wouldn't even walk in the door for less than $100 a night, it just wasn't worth it. The main thing is, don't be unnecessarily mean, but don't take shit from people either... that's how you can stay in this game without getting hurt too badly...

Very good advice right there.

How many nights out of 10 do you think you're involved in a physical conflict?

Better to bounce in a dance club, strip club, or bar?

I've worked in all three. I work in a nice bar right now that has good clientele. Haven't got in a lot of altercations for quite some time, and I like it that way.

Yeah, thats probably for the best. What are the goods & bad of each kind of establishment?

I'd rather not be picking up and throwing people out every 15-20 minutes, lol.

I guess I depends a lot on the individual establishment and where it's located, but I like my place because I see lots and lots of people that I know from campus, the gym, and so on. It has big window-doors that we open up in nice weather, and there are smoke eaters installed in the ceiling. I have a good rapport with most of the people that come in there, and the atmosphere is usually very friendly.

You would just have to check out the place you were thinking of working at and see what you thought of it. Other than that, there are no clear ways to separate the good from the bad.

Dance club is probably the worst IMO cause they're usually bigger and attracts a young crowd. Also since dance clubs have many bouncers the pay-check is not that good.

Strip CLub: May vary according to their own rules. In some strip clubs as soon as a client gets drunk, he's out. Here in Montreal it's not easy cause contact dances are legal but with some rules and no-contact area, so you always have wannabe Joe trying to finger the girl. Best for your pockets. Not unusual to make a good 250-300$ a night.

Bar: From my experience not a lot. Unless there's hip hop......now thats another story. Money is good, especially if you're working alone or with just one partner.
