how to find your target

:) glad you noticed, some don't even know where its from...... Do you think someone was mad on that album.


Hey thanks for helping me find that info out. I wanna stay within a area where I don't have a heart attack as I found a dead guy at the gym already in January. Sucked, I know.
 
You can get a little more specific than just the 220 - your age= max heart rate formula.

Once you find your max heart rate, subtract you resting heart rate. Lets say your resting is 60 per minute, and you max HR is 200. You'd take 200-60 and get what they call a heart rate reserve. Yours would be 140 (theoritically).

So between your resting and your maximum, you have a span of 60 beats per minute you can play with while doing carido. Now lets say you want to work out at 80% of your maximum heart rate. So, multiply 60 x .8(which is the 80% we mentioned) and you'd get 48.

So now go back and add 48 to your resting HR of 140 and you get 188, and vola', that's your target heart rate. This way you get a more personalized target heart rate than the old 220-your age deal.
