Please Scroll Down to See Forums Below I was wandering how safe is this site, I've been reading confessions and plans of using the "ilegal stuff", is this really safe to talk about all this in the open, what keep authorities from tracking us? I mean, I and everybody else paid for this forum using credidcards, what about IP adresses. Maybe I'm just beeing neurotic, what do you guys think?

Nothing is safe just use common sense. One thing you need to realize though is that the dea, fbi or whoever isnt going to sit on these sites all day looking for harvy joe blow steroid user. They could care less about 99% of the people on these boardscarpedien said:

Absolutely true. You could call the police, FBI, DEA, etc and tell them that your next door neighbor is a juicer and you actually saw him personally inject and they wouldn't even go talk to the guy. Doesn't really matter where your server resides. They can just need to tap somewhere in line. None of these conversations are encrypted (except encrypted email accounts). Doesn't take much to reassemble a conversation flow - any simple freeware packet capture program can do that without any of us being the wiser. Now, do they want to spend all of this time to swat at a bunch of nats - I would think not. Unless you are a major source, I wouldn't think it would be worth there time to focus on you or I. Especially since we are only exchanging ideas and not doing anything illegal on this board - right?

get yourself a sniffer and a good firewall (preferably not windows firewall). learn and understand ports used for packet traffic and monitor traffic on your machine. set good firewall rules based on this understanding. a good rule of thumb is to limit or deny incoming traffic and set your firewall to allow only after your permission for necessary incoming. IP maskers won't do any good. any good ISP with a good IT manager has better tools than you. even if you are using dial-up, you hackers....
it is true. post 9/11, the government is taking a proactive stance on watchdogging internet/email/online activity. they have most ISP's in their pocket and they are readily creating laws to their advantage. it started with carnivore and it ends at freedom. if you are a terrorist or selling felony substances to minors, you can be sure you are on top of the list. but they don't have enough administration to handle the demand and bulk of lesser illegal activity.
