How often do you play the lottery?

I did a HS science report on the lottery and it's odds.

Instead of wasting $20 of my parent's money, I prefer to think of it as a rather cheap 'A'.

it makes me so frustrating, i work hard but i still never seem to be able to afford much, so many credit card bills caught up to me.
credit cards are the devil bro , the devil.

never

i hate scratch offs too

i'll stick to poker

when i win at foxwoods, on the way out i'll throw a small wad of my winnings on craps as sort of a reward

My father wasted gobs of money on the lottery, we are talking as much as 100$ a day for pick3 and pick4... FOR YEARS! I dont believe that he ever won more than a few hundred here/there and once or twice up to 3G.

My ex in-laws are very big gamblers - lottery, horses and Atlantic City. Gambling addiction pretty sad.

I used to get a bit of pleasure playing blackjack (before I had kids in my first marriage) but as the children came we stopped going (obviously). Now I prefer to spend money on good food and drink, other forms of entertainment, and massages, facials, etc. These help me to relax and are ALWAYS beneficial whereas gambling is not.

Just think about it. If the house didnt win (this includes the lottery) far more than the gamblers did, would it be such big business?

Oh, no question the odds aren't in your favor. I think the casual gamblers understand this and play for fun with a certain amount they can afford to lose.

Poker is a bit different, and blackjack if you can count cards and have a big enough bankroll to withstand the standard deviation short term. With counting in blackjack you can have like a 2% advantage or so.

Agreed. I used to do the weekly poker thing with the owner and other managers using a roll of quarters, dimes, and nickles each (the max any one person could bring to the table). By memorizing odds of the hands (I suck at card counting, lol) alone I found it easier to win, or at least not lose.
