How often do you need to change up your workout?

How often should one change up there workout? And by changing it up how much? do you allways keep dead squat bench in there? And do you have to totally change your split up and totally change your rep scheme around or is just a little changing enough such as exchanging exercises? Any science behind it?

i dont think you have to benchpress at all to be a good bodybuilder

you would ideally change up your exercises as much as possible IMO

I change things up when I start to stall. Diet, weights, set/rep scheme, time off, music, headphones or loud stereo, etc. Sometimes one thing, sometimes many. The whole process is learning and evolution. I write everything down. so I know what works for me.

Do what works for you bro, I mean if you're stll gaining big then keep it the same. I switch every workout so it's different than the last. ex, chest workout on saturday - Flat bench 5x5, incline DB's, Flies.... chest wednesday - flat bench dbs, decline bb, incline BB, arnold dips...... chest next saturday - flat bench maxout, decline bb, flies....... that's just an example of how i might switch it everyworkout. i do that with every body part and have real sick gains with all my lifts. Stimulating new muscle fibers and shocking your system will help you get big gains. try the 5x5 one week then the next week maybe go for reps or whatever. it's up to you

Generally speaking, I don't thnk you need to change exercises to switch it up. i think rep ranges, intensity levels, volume, rest periods, and so forth are what need to be changed.

you should always bench, squat, and dead -- the other acceosry work though can be changed as you see fit.

Essentially every 2 weeks.

Some people even run "dual programs" where they do one program in wk 1 , then the other program in wk 2 and do this for 8 weeks. Anything that varies and keeps the body guessing is good.

I train in Cycles (Step Cycles specifically) which work quite well for me
and what I do is basically 8-12 weeks depending on how long the CYcle takes of Flat Bench and BLDL
and then the next 8-12 weeks I work SLDL OH Press and BLDL
and it works pretty well

now I have to warn you I train for strength, not size
but I do grow from this style training
