how often do you lift?

I was wondering who has had better gains while on cycle, by giving your body a 2-3 day rest between workouts, mike mentzer swears by this stuff. He actually reccomends 4 days inbetween workouts.
 
i try to work out sunday thru thursday then take friday and saturday off then i start all over again on sunday, it also depends on how sore i am the next day, if i am sore as hell then i wont work out the next day,,:D

DON'T FORGET THAT MENTZER AND OTHER H I T GUYS USED HEAVY AMOUNTS OF STEROIDS-THAT IS WHY THEY COULD LIFT AT SUCH A HIGH INTENSITY ONLY 2 OR 3 DAYS A WEEK AND STILL GAIN HUGE SIZE
 
i train like mentzer tought (H.I.T) i train 3 days a week but i have gotten great results from training 2 times a week. i used to train like this...
week 1
mon:legs
thursaday: chest, Back
week 2
Mon: legs
thurs: shoulders tris bis
week 3
(same as week 1)
week 4
(same as week 2).....and so on.

i now train with slightly more volume and 1 more day a week. my intesity its still extremely high.
my current workout plan is like this:
monday: shoulder tris bis
wed: legs
fri back chest....

i am about to change my workout plan for the new year to an 7 day cycle like this....

Mon: shoulder tris
tues: back
wed off
thurs chest bis
fri off
sat legs
sun off

* note i am doing about 1-2 sets per exercise with and about 4 exercises per major muscle group and 2-3 exercises for bis, tris, calves etc

so i never do more than 8 sets total per bodypart.
 
i forgot to mention that i was all natural when i was doing 2 days a week. i feel like without drugs the body take a longer time to respond to the damage caused by exercise.
 
4 days a week is all I can do as I work 60 hours a week. When I was in college I did five days a week but those days are over. I go sat. and sun. then I go two days during the week.
 
I do this.


Mon.- Back
Tue.- Chest
Wed.- Legs
Thur.- Shoulders
Fri.- Arms
Off Sat & Sunday

i think he is referring to 4 days between body parts, not workouts. then you are doing each muscle twice every 8 days. personally i find i get the best gains by doing all supersets while on cycle, and then switch it to the basic, 4 excersises for 4 sets a piece, while im off cycle.
 
I don't have enough time to spend in the gym to work more than one body part , so I just hit one a day 5 days a week , I usualy go to the gym on the week ends for cardio and to meet up with my eating buddies for lunch

BUT I MIGHT GIVE ONE OF THE ABOVE A TRY IF YALL THINK IT WORKS..

tues - quads / calves / ab's (sometimes cardio)
wed - back / tris
thurs - off
fri - lower back / hams / abs (sometimes cardio)
sat - shoulders / traps
sun - off

mikes theory?

I did a little studying on mikes ideas, he says it is very easy to overtrain, especially if you are all natural, but as we allways think,more is not always better, Ive fallen into this trap my self, it something to think about, If juice corrects your training mistakes, ie. overtraining and you still grow, what happens when you dont overtarain? more growth?
 
It took me a long time to get it through my thick scull that overtraining is detrimental to muscle gain.

It takes as much heart to step away as it does to stay there and overtrain....at leat for me it is.

I have made much better gains listening to my body and hitting a muscle group after it has fully recovered!
 
gym time

it is very hard for me to stay away from the gym, I was used to training everyday, and enjoyed it, but was going no where gain wise. The gym is like an addiction, A good addiction it is!!
 
Duckman we do almost the same exact thing, just switched a little.
