How often do you guys do cardio???

I usually hit the treadmill 5 days a week with extreme intensity, almost full speed for 20 min.

problem is that i'm wiped out afterwards lose the motivation and time to hit the weights also.

Fuck...think 3 days a week would be enough???

I have a hard time eating right before bed and then agaion when I wake up unless I do cardio............plus, it keeps me lean through bulking stages..........never over 10%

I do it 7 days a week......NEVER BEFORE TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely. No cardio beforel lifting.

I go 2 or three times a week, 20-30 minutes, med intenstity post workout. Then I run for 30 minutes on one off night per week. So far that seems to be balancing out my atrocious diet of late.

Not enough but I shoot for 2-3 hours/week.

Used to be never but when I start back up in 2 weeks it'll be 3x/week interval stuff on a treadmill

I'm cutting currently and diet is definitely more important than how often I do cardio...cardio just gives you that extra boost and keeps your lungs/heart in shape.

My cardio schedule is:

3x per week - hardly ever on a lifting day - and even then 8 hours after lifting. Depending on my schedule I aim for either 20min of high intensity intervals or an hour of medium intensity. I also started going to a spinning class once a week.

Yeah, now next question, how old are all you guys.

I love these young guys that say "Shit I barely do cardio". Yeah I wish I had the metabolism of a 20 year old! I wouldn't do cardio either.

Try not doing cardio after 40 and see how cut you are (without drugs).

OK, I'm just whining now...

I eat 4000+ calories a day, don't do cardio, and still manage to stay around 12% while bulking. So nice to be 20. ;)

Beleive me it WILL CHANGE..

I probabaly eat 1/10 of what I used to and still need cardio(to be ripped anyway).

I am 21, and I do cardio everyday. I am considering doing cardio twice a day when I get back from Napa. I think the amount of cardio also depends on your diet and training goals, for the most part I would consider Elite members to be looking to burn fat comparatively to developing cardiovascular conditioning.
If you want to get ripped, do cardio in the morning, train later in the day and do not cheat on your diet. I have a treadmill at home, so I is quite easier for me to do it twice a day, I never have before because I wasn't about to go to the gym three times a day.
How's your diet? I don't take any drugs or supplements other than protein powder, so I have to not to cheat to achieve extreme results. Being older would exacerbate the situation also, with the loss in metabolism and all.
Good luck. :bigbuck:

when bulking i never do it. and when cutting I do it 2-3 times per week but never before lifting... either after lifting or on off days.

I'm getting into powerlifting, but I'm gonna start doing moderate cardio 3x a week to help keep BF% in check while getting bigger and keep my heart strong so I can recover faster between sets and workouts. I figure I'll hit my cardio zone of 155-160bpm for 20 minutes and call it good. Nothing to intense as I'm doing it more as a recovery aid than anything.

Oh, btw Jkurz, intense or too frequent cardio does up your cortisol levels brah. Check out long distance runners. I know a runner that eats like a fuggin pig, but he jogs 6-8 miles 5 days a week and looks like your typical serious runner. I bet he'd struggle pressing 25lbs DB's lol.

Moderate amount of cardio=good for heart and recovery, too much cardio=shrink you double quick time.

Why you think you have trouble gaining? 7 days doesn't seem abit excessive?

Honestly, I pull the sled for a set time or distance. It gets the heart rate up and it doesn't hurt the strength aspect like long endurance cardio sessions.

Its 20 mins HIIT on the elliptical fisrt thing in the am...hardly excessive.......

I think so. CArdio is just not necessary 7 days a week.

If it's high intensity cardio 7 days a week, yes, it can stress your system quite abit.
