How much would you pay for this car?

It’s a blue (in and out) 87 ford automatic lx 5.0 mustang, body in decent condition, no major problems. I Believe it has 150k miles. H-pipe, flow masters.


Claims new:

Belts
Radiator
Fuel pump
Water pump
Alternator

Needs:

Paint (not horrible but prob original)
Tires
Passenger door handle
Glove box is disassembled
Windshield

He wants $1200 I told him I’d give him $600 cash if it doesn’t sell, he called today and wants to sell.

I can do all the body work, change the plugs, wires, oil, get new tires, windshelid, air filter, clean it up a bit and sell it. Or just get a windshield and give it some TlC and sell it for $1200 myself. i looked on craigslist and it's not even on there.

What you all think? Haven’t driven it but going to look and drive it Saturday.

It won't even pass inspection if it needs a new windshield. It's technically not legal, or road safe with crap tires and windshield. wih crappy paint too, geez. guys asking for an arm and a leg for what that car really is worth.


I bought a running/driving 1992 geo storm to screw around with for 100 bucks. It passed inspection too.

yeah but its a "mustang" a "classic" whatever that crap means, i dont think i would have a problem selling it for $1200 with about $500 into it, just dont want to buy it and not be able to sell it or have the engine blow 20 miles down the road

A "fox body" mustang is not a classic. They are very abundant, and kind of crappy to begin with.

My cousin had a fox body mustang lx 5.0 about 2 years ago. It ran okay, but it was a piece (of shit).

$600 sounds fair. That car is a beater. In it's day that was fast and cheap. H-pipe a nice feature.

So you pay 600, work on it for 500 (1100) and want to sell it for 1200 for all that work?

Find a 5 speed fox body that someone installed a supercharger in for about 2g's. Sounds like too much work to deal with.
