How much time do you spend training?

Just curious...how much time do all of you spend training and what results do you have. I'm just trying to figure out the best way for me to build muscle, I'm not sure if I need more time or less time working out.

4 x 1 hour weights workouts (about 45 minutes of weights + stretching)
1 x 40 minute indoor soccer match
1 x 30 minute sprint workout

So about 5 and 1/4 hours a week. Not all that much really. Probably spend more time here posting and even more time thinking about training :)

Next year it will be a lot more though, with football training added into the mix.

Hmm...me too. I workout 5 days/week. 2 of those days take just over an hour. The other 3 take less than an hour.

im at the gym alot. actually training time is alot less than i am in the gym, workouts usually last no more than 1.5 hours, helping spot others, loading weights, making fun of each other, BSing, and falling off the stability ball make up the rest of the time.

sunday: get to gym at 10, leave gym at 1
monday: get to gym at 7:30, leave at 10:30, come back at 4 leave at 6.
tuesday: get to gym at 9, leave at 10
wednesday: get to gym at 5:30, leave at 8:30
thursday: no gym:(
friday: get to gym at 7:30, leave at 11. if i dont have to work i come back at 6 and leave at 8
saturday: get to gym at 9, leave at 10.

that about 18 hours i spend in the gym, a week. i dont time my workout start to finish, but my actual working out time is considerably less i would say.

about 4xwk-- 1 to 1.5hrs... but I get better results spending LESS time in the gym-- like during non-prime time hrs (when Im not waiting for benches/ dbs/ squat rack & less time BSing w/macho bodybuilders :)

I spend about an 1.5 hours x 4 days per week. 1 hour of that time is spent doing cardio and the rest is lifting and stretching.

Hey LIFTBIG -
Do you have your mail delivered to the gym>? And, do they have a cot in the back for you to take your naps?? lol j/k but that's alot of time in the gym!

5 * 1.5 hours lifting 4.00 pm - 5.30 pm
5 * 1.25 hours cardio 5.30 am - 7.00 am
5 * 2 hours MMA & Grapling 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm

That is pretty much my entire life. Sometimes I deviate but not very often. If you include the time I spend prepairing food and eating the crap I think it is my whole lif. Throw in work and I almost have enough time left over for some sleep and a bit of family time.

Thank god I have a good wife that supports my crazy ass hobies and habits.

Well, my training partner and me both do DC workouts. It takes us about 50 min./session I guess. It'd look something like this:

Me:
Hammer Iso-Wide
90x8
1 min. "rest"
180x8
1 min. rest
270x3-4
1 min. rest
360x1-2
1 min. rest
work set: 410x7, 15 deep breaths, 410x2, 15 more, 410x1. (That's heavier than I typically go. I like to hit a total of more than 12 reps on most stuff, and quite a bit more on a few exercises. But you get the idea.)

Meanwhile, he's warming up on, say, dips. We alternate back and forth to save time. He doesn't warm up as extensively, so he starts his work set while I'm still warming up. (It means that he rests too long between his main set and his rest-pauses, though, which isn't good. His progress is still solid but we need to address that; I think it's catching up with him now, after about 6 weeks of pushing real hard.)

Then we hit the extreme stretch for 60 sec. apiece, and repeat that process for Iso-Rows (or whatever the exercise the day calls for), Military Press, etc.

I can actually get done faster without him. His training doesn't hold me up, but he's also my best friend, so we talk back and forth. That's okay...it doesn't hurt, and I need him to time my stretches :)

Total weekly training time would be less than 3 hours.

Do you really want to know? haha Time in the gym is about 18-21 hours a week. two 7 hour sessions and two 2-4 hour sessions. Long rest between sets on the 7 hour days though. Seems to work for me, but everyones different

haha, I was waiting for you to answer this question! Gotta love your 7 hour sessions.... lol :)

I train 4x week. Weights first for 45 min followed by @30 minutes of cardio, followed by 15 minutes of stretching. Two of those cardio sessions are high intensity interval sprints. So in all that adds up to 6 hours a week.

Hey Beast, I was wondering if you are really cut from doing all of that work because that has to be a shitload of calories being burned in those huge workouts. Great dedication.

Hey Ogrelleh and Fat Rat! haha No Im not especially cut for whatever reason. You can see in my pics from 4-5 months ago in my gallery. My strength is really my best feature. My attitude is kind of a Lift or Die mentality. So you could say Im obsessed. Could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I definately experiment with alot of different training methods and techniques. Never tried Heavy Duty training though, and dont think I ever will. Just cant see myself growing on one set to failure, when my body is accustomed to 30 sets of failure. Just feel like I have to damage the fibers more each time, tear the shit out of them haha. Once the body stops getting sore I need to up the intensity. Atleast this is my mindset haha ThanX for the replies :D
