How much REST is required while on....

i always hear that "proper rest" is a vital part to maximizing gains, exactly what kinda rest is this saying, i usually get about 8 hours a night???

off topic what is a good calorie intake to have to gain good weight but not a lot of fat???
 
8 hours is good but what they mean by rest is some people have a very physical job requires a lot of heavy lifting, etc... these guys have a hard time to grow since they dont give their bodies time to recover. now AAS does speed up the recovery but still you need at leased 8 hours of sleep and i dont workout the same body part more than 2 times a week.
 
REST is ESSENTIAL.

When I am bulking, I will eat, sleep, eat, train, eat sleep. This is my routine. The goal (WHILE BULKING) is to CONSUME as many calories as possible, while simultaneously EXPENDING as little as possible. The result is continued anabolism. This means you need a MINIMUM of 9 hours every night, and at least 1 day-time nap lasting from 2-3 hours.

As for training, you can definitely train more and harder while ON. Protein synthesis is drastically increased, you are recovering quicker, and getting stronger. JUST LISTEN to your body! Don;t over-do it, but don't under do it. WORKOUT as MUCH and as HARD as you can, but LISTEN to what your body demands.
