how much do you tip your hairdresser

I tip $20 for a $40 haircut.

I tip $30 + when I get highlights.

Same here. I tipped a little over $50 last time I got my hair cut and highlighted. It's so thick, even after cutting 5 inches off she still had to mix three batches of dye and cut foil about 5 times.

I guess I am only about 10-15 mins. away. May be a little further. Depends on traffic.

I know what you mean. Before I got my hair my hairdresser woud cut foil about five times. I hated being there for hours just to get highlights.

20% is the standard. Set by whom? Probably the hairdressers. I think they should do away with tips and just charge more so that these people can make decent money. Waiters making 200$ a night is ridiculous. It's a no brainer job.

I've never tipped my barber, except near Christmas or if he opens up earlier than usual to accomidate me.

He makes $11 dollars for about 10-13 minutes of work cutting my hair. I could go to an "old country barber shop" and get it done for $8. I cant believe what some people pay for getting thier hair cut.
