I am stating that your dentist sets rates and accepts payments from insurance companies at a reduced rate through a TPA.
yes, you are incorrectly stating that, and have failed to provide and proof or backup to that statement.

You also claimed to work with my dentist's TPA, that is a lie, as my dentist does not use a TPA except in the case of delinquent accounts (collections).

So unless you provide any truthful info, this discussion is over.

so medical, you work for a medical firm? Not an insurance company? Not a dentist? why do you claim to know so much about my insurance and dentist then? It sounds like wherever you work is the exception to the rule.
I don't "work for" a medical firm. The statements I make about dentists in general come from what I have learned from a dentist friend about their billing practices. The statements I make about your personal dentist come from a professional inquiry as to how they accept insurance payment.

It appears to be....I'll refrain from trying to have the last word and just say good night.

My insurance company cuts a check directly to my dentist, that is how they are paid, I've seen the checks.

Your dentist negotiates insurance payments through a TPA. I've spoken to them on the phone since this conversation began.

Well Im sure part of the deal when a provider contracts with a TPA, is that they essentially accept a lowered amount of their rate and the TPA keeps the difference. That's how the TPA gets paid by the practitioner/provider, right?

The use of TPA's is by no means universal, though.

medical, I understand what youre saying, but I think the way it was communicated was a bit confusing to those reading. Either that, or you assumed all dental providers utitlize a TPA for billing and colleting payment from the Insurance company, which I dont think is true.

can someone find me an insurrance company which covers dental, and is cheap?

btw, ive had psych counselling in the past unfortunately. does that mean that ill have to find some kind of group policy at a job, in order to get under a good plan again?

You're right, and I did incorrectly state that Lestat's dentist BILLS through a TPA. Here is what is the most correct statement I can make: Lestat's dentist is willing to accept 55% payment on stated charges through a TPA who can guarantee them X amount of business. As a matter of fact they are not exclusive to 1 TPA but will extend this discount to any TPA offering them X# of patients.
I'm not trying to piss anyone off I am just stating that most dentists will do work at greatly discounted prices because the accept those reduced prices from insurance companies and usually wait upwards of 90 days to receive payment.

Im calling Fragadelic right now to dispel all the rumors about dental insurance fraud!

Frag was very cool when he extracted my molar a few yrs ago, he agreed to charge me only the portion that my insurance would pay, so no out of pocket for me - outside of the $25 co-pay! best dentist ever!

Ummm, Frag was a plumber. I think you got screwed.....

TWICE.

Did he put you under? You better check lumberg with a paternity test. and Why is your kid named Little frag? I don't want to start rumors... but still, I'd be worried.

Ahhh so here we go, you are adding in some more details here.

I don't go through a TPA, as I said, when my insurance pays, they put a check to Martin Abelar DDS as the payee.

They do not contract with or participate with any insurance plans. I have asked many times. Now this TPA thing, maybe there is a policy in place, but I doubt they get many patients that way, but I can't say for certain.

I'll see him on January 2nd though and I'm definitely asking him about TPA and how he uses them if at all.

Delta Dental, full coverage = free free free. I just had a root canal, post and porcelein crown $1.900.00. I didn't pay a penny. I love dental insurance and with kids + braces it's worth the $20.00 per month.

Smile :D

$75 for cleaning, another $55 just for the dentist to walk in and say "good to go"

I looked at my receipt and it was $60 for the cleaning and $30 for what you just described....the dentist looked at my teeth and said "looks good"

lol, what bullshit.

I am going to look into dental insurance plans and see if any are worth paying monthly for.....even though I doubt there is.

he'll be so happy to know this.

Who would've thunk a thread about dentistry would start a fight

if so, we should get married cuz this'll be a cake walk.

no, Lestat, Smurfy and medical was who I was referring to.

but I'll fight you right now, Heifer

Everybody with insurance, I'm assuming your employer pays it?

Anybody know of any good personal dental insurance in the US that is reasonable?

We have dental coverage and it's free twice a year for cleanings. But like I said before, we pay $400 or $600 a year for the coverage through my wife's employer. It's pretax of course which helps. but...

The dental group I go to now offers insurance you can buy directly from them. I may look into that and see if there's a savings because we do pay higher copays and stuff when doing major work.

I may look into Delta Dental like radar'stoy mentioned. $20/month for a family, not bad. When my kids start getting huge work done, it might be the way to go.

so you pay $20 a month and anyone can do this, and it covers you completely???

Yes, we are all covered completely including 2 cleaning a year. I have my policy through work. One of the few great perks working for a school district. :) If you're asking if you can go sign up I don't know how it works with an individual plan. I'm sure there's a web site you can check out. I have noticed that Americans seem to be more conscience about dental care then other countries. For me teeth are the first thing I notice about someone.

Peace

I pay $11 per hr into my union pension and insurance. So a litle over $1500 per month and it covers 100% of dental med, vision, scripts. And some of the money goes towards my pension.

I pay nothing for the cleanings cuz of insurance - but the cleaning costs $55

ahh, work policy, no wonder, i thought it was too good to be true :) the places ive worked at never have cared to provide me any shit, they are just like "lol, we dont care if you dont have dental insurrance and die someday"

yeah, i definately need to take care of my teeth, especially because i didnt all the years i was growing up! I rarely brushed them, and although I'm doing a lot better now I still struggle with it at times.

I know women notice teeth, and I know its probably weird kissing a man that has a fake mouth, so I need to get on this!
