how much can I expect to pay for a chiropractor?

not totally clear if my insurance covers ANY chiropractic care but the chiropractor Im going to tomorrow doesn't take any insurance...so if my insurance does cover it at all i have to pay for it myself initially and submit the claim

this office was the only one totally familiar with whats going on with my hips and claimed to beable to get my pain level down to manageable

what do you all pay for this ?

oh...initial appointment is $200 bucks...that much I do know

I can't imagine it won't end up being multiple visits...the issue isn't going to go away until after I deliver....

pubic joint and sacro-illialic joint on one side are separated...confirmed by the OB and my ortho
ortho didn't think I could do physical therapy for it without getting it back into some semblence of alignment first...the one side the illia side overlaps the sacro joint a little...making for pure agony

the last time I went it was ultra cheap..like 100 a month and I was going initially three times a week...but the chiro took pity on me because my insurane was paltry, I was hugely pregnant and unable to really walk
so he set me up on a custom billing....gave me a super pretty oak crib too...

so I have no idea what the real price is going to be

my insurance covers mine...for a few visits anyway...my chiro is one of my clients...we've tradeded services from time-to-time...maybe you could show him your bewbs?? that should be good for a few visits :lmao:

sorry, anyway, mine must be like $50 a pop (no pun) or something like that (after the initial visit).

Chiropractory is bogus medicine. Screw that shit.

actually in a couple of double blind studies..this is the only thing that helps this particular problem (osteopathic as well, but its a similar idea)...its become the standard of care for this in parts of europe

I don't think its legit medicine though unless you have an actual problem with alignment of joints
you're not say...curing cancer with it

anyway, this is what both the ortho and the obgyn reccomended

only thing that'd be good for is a

I quit going after my Chiro refused to adjust my jacked up neck after stating neck manipulations can cause vertebral strokes.

Science-Based Medicine Chiropractic and Stroke

BTW, BCBS pays something for preferred providers ... don't remember exactly how much, butt not significantly more than any other Dr.'s visit

yeah, I actually don't want em touching my neck...I'm not cool with it and the herniated discs in my neck

my last insurance provider would've covered it with a copay...this new provider it may be covered out of network (60%)

i went for my back when i threw it out...it felt better after a few sessions, but after 3 months, i stopped going because i didn't feel anymore improvement with the treatment.

why go to a chiro as opposed to a physiotherapist?

physio will be included, but its a hormonal relaxation of joints issue primarily...not say...a muscle issue...
its kind of hard to explain what i mean by that I think

I have to get the one area back into alignment first then try to maintain it with pt

anyone who thinks chiros are a joke are missing out. been going since 4th grade. they are the real deal. atleast the ones i went to. i couldnt have been the athlete i was without chiropractic care.

my chiro now is 30 dollars a visit no inusrance. first visit was 55. cant beat that.

I had many neck adjustments throughout the years. I always considered it as very therapeutic.

I wood be willing to sign a release of liability considering the insignificant chance of stroking out from that vertebral manipulations

so...this appointment wasn't at all what I expected BUT...at least I know how much it costs now..

50-80 per visit roughly every 2 weeks unless you "need" to come in earlier

still don't know if its on the up and up, but a cpl spots do feel a lot better
meh

I pay $31.50 a visit cash/credit. I'm not sure if I get a discount because my husband and I have been with him so long.

We just go in for once a month tuneups unless we mess something up.

Chiropractors are just like any other doctor, you get a good one, you're golden. You get a bad one, at best, it'll do nothing, at worst you'll end up more screwed up than when you walked through his door.

well..he piqued my interest because he picked up on an issue I didn't mention in the paperwork or to him....and that feels better than it has in like literally 5 yrs...
and then really focused on nutrition..primarily a lack of absorption.. and muscle cramping more than say "alignment" of anything

I'm trying to figure out how I was tricked but it was bizarre how he rattled off a list of issues
they have supps there, but I repeatedly saw people say, oh already have that...I'll pick it up at wherever cuz i gotta go by there anyway, w/o hassle and his prices were in line with anywhere else

may be total junk ..idk, I'll give it two months and see

ive been to a few chiros from moving and how i know they are good is when they pick up on your problems without you telling them about it. my current chiro checked me out toe to toe (no homo) and picked up on like every problem area i have.

I had a good friend that became a D.C. (Now he's a junkie :( )

They took the holistic crap a bit far thinking they could look in your eyes and diagnosis organ damage and other quackery.

Physical therapists perform manipulations as well. I also have had SI and pubic alignment problems and just about any decent PT can pop them back into place. Of course I am probably a little biased since I'm in grad school for PT ;)

yeah...I just haven't found one and the dr's had no suggestions..otherwise I'd go that route

I'm a little biased towards mainstream medicine myself...thats my first line go to.

I've heard of those they read you iris or some BS like that

Go to an orthopedic surgeon instead, so you can get drugs. The Chiro WISHES he could give you corticosteroids and NSAIDs, because They Work.

One, she's pregnant, they ain't giving her no good drugs.

Two, you got a fucked up back and need cutting, YOU DO NOT GO TO AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON, EVER. You go to a neurosurgeon. A neurosurgeon fucks up neurologically, another neurosurgeon will fix it. An orthopod fucks up, no neurosurgeon on earth will touch you (I have had this confirmed by doctors on tapes and in person).

yeah...I had to be kind of a jerk by after looking it up asking two different pharmacists then confronting the dr just to be allowed ibuprofen...and I'm only allowed that until 30 weeks when it becomes a class D drug category

otherwise it'd just be tylenol...

if it gets terrible I'll ask my regular dr for tylenol #3's ...she prescribed them for me last time around when this got bad

and no ones cutting up my back..ortho/neuro...no one

I actually did a legs workout on machines last night and it felt surprisingly good...followed it with the hot tub (that rule has changed) and the pool...I think I'm gonna do legs again tonight and hit the therapeutic pool

I absolutely understand. Any good doctor will tell you that the surgical outcome for degenerative spine problems is about 25% success, far, far below that of surgery for traumatic problems.

I'm fighting tendonitis/bursitis/impingement in my right shoulder, now :( (it's been screwed up since mid October). I'm in a quandary as to get back in the saddle with weights, or continue to rest it. I basically rested it most of Nov/Dec, fucked it up again last week by overdoing it just once, now it's just vaguely starting to feel like it won't fall off if I lift my arm the wrong way.

Fuck but getting old sucks the hairy one.

tylenol 3s?

i'll admit to knowing nothing about pregnancy, but i can't imagine opiates are good for a baby.

I guess theres something about its molecular size...and maybe I'm wrong about that..but some drugs only cross the placenta in trace amounts...tylenol 3's happen to be one of em
theyre on the same class level as regular tylenol
and then the rules change for breastfeeding..drugs that were previously ok..arent and vice versa

obviously a responsible person won't abuse them and only take them as prescribed ya know?

I find that chiropractic decompression therapy is great. Orthopedics always want to cut you open. My co pay is $15 but it took some trial and error to find a chiro that was a good fit for me. See if your insurance will pay for xrays/mri. Ask him for a script for a mri.
